James Gandolfini could not stop laughing at Dominic Chianese with the CPAP mask on . They used his stand in during his non speaking parts and it took over 18 takes to get him to say his 1 line and then give a look. Even then, they had 2 break it 2 shots

Sopranos cast talk about bad blood between HBO and James Gandolfini regarding contract negotiations

Michael Imperioli had arrived back from L.A. late on a Sunday and decided to have a couple of drinks instead of resting before his 7 am call time for this scene. He struggled remembering lines. They used cue cards, but it didn't work so this scene was shot literally line by line.

In this scene Steve Schirripa had trouble with a line of dialogue. Take after take, kept messing up. Sopranos castmates Dan Grimaldi and Robert Funaro offered encouraging words. Joe Pantoliano chose to mock and ridicule to the point Steve threw a chair at him.

According to Sopranos director John Patterson- in this scene Jackie Jr. and Tony are holding just the umbrella rods because the umbrellas caused too many shadows and blocked lighting. When they go to a wide shot, they switched to full umbrellas.

HBO sold rights to broadcast reruns of The Sopranos to commercial cable TV network A&amp;E for $1 million per episode. They did have to edit certain violent scenes and clean up some language though.

The script for The Sopranos "Funhouse" episode called for Tony to appear walking but not getting anywhere. To achieve this, they used a treadmill. Actually two-1 for Tony and 1 when Silvio appears to glide out of the shot. And I smiled just like Tony after finding out about this.

John Travolta's dad owned a tire shop in Bergen County NJ and James Gandolfini's father bought tires from him. James would see John's photos at the shop and thought he'd give acting a try. John Travolta and James Gandolfini ended up appearing in 5 movies together.
