RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Police said a 31-year-old woman was fatally shot by an officer on May 7, 2026, after officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex on Midlothian Turnpike. According to Richmond Police Chief Rick Edwards, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:47 p.m. after a man called 911 reporting he heard a gunshot inside an apartment where Jazmin Wooten-Mitchell was located. During the call, people could reportedly be heard attempting to get her to open the door while the caller told dispatchers they believed she had been shot and they could not get inside. Police said a second 911 call was received while officers were en route, reporting that a woman was outside the apartment building firing a gun. When officers arrived, witnesses directed them toward an upstairs area of the complex as residents were seen running from the scene. Investigators said Wooten-Mitchell fired toward an apartment and in the direction of the stairwell as officers approached. One officer then discharged his weapon, striking her. Officers recovered a handgun near Wooten-Mitchell and attempted medical aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or residents were reported injured. Family members and local media identified Wooten-Mitchell as the mother of two children, including a 6-month-old son and a daughter who recently turned 11. Relatives told reporters she had recently experienced the death of one child’s father prior to the incident. No official criminal history for Wooten-Mitchell was publicly released by Richmond Police or court officials as of May 22, 2026. Buffalo Police Officer Shot Six Times During Domestic Incident Buffalo, N.Y., May 26, 2026 — A Buffalo police officer was shot six times and the suspect was wounded in an officer-involved shooting during a domestic incident response at 256 Sherman Street on the city's East Side around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers responded after a woman called 911 reporting that her husband, identified as Minhaz Siddiqui, 33, of Buffalo, had a gun, would not let her leave, had locked her in a room, taken her phone, and attempted to sexually assault her. Family members at the residence let officers in and directed them to Siddiqui in the kitchen. Officers encountered Siddiqui, who was agitated and non-compliant. During an attempt to handcuff him, a physical struggle occurred. Siddiqui, reported to hold a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, produced a concealed handgun from his waistband and fired eight shots, striking Officer Marc Hurst six times. Hurst, a nine-year veteran assigned to the C District, was hit once in each calf, once in the upper thigh, once in the upper arm, and twice in his bulletproof vest, with the vest impacts striking his radio and taser. Other officers returned fire, discharging three rounds and striking Siddiqui. Both men were transported to Erie County Medical Center. East Lansing Man Fatally Shot by Police After Stabbing Attorney Outside Barber Shop East Lansing, Michigan — On April 15, 2026, employees at a Marco’s Pizza restaurant called 911 after 21-year-old Isaiah Kirby allegedly entered the business pretending to be a delivery driver. Workers said Kirby went behind the counter, opened a pizza box, and began eating food that did not belong to him. Employees repeatedly told him to leave. One worker later said Kirby became confrontational and stood chest-to-chest with him before exiting the restaurant. Staff called 911 to report the disturbance, fearing the situation was escalating. While the employee was still speaking with dispatchers, the situation outside turned violent. Across the street, 63-year-old attorney Douglas Mielock had just left a barber shop and was getting into his vehicle when, according to family members and witnesses, Kirby attacked him without warning. Witnesses reported seeing a struggle in the parking lot. Callers told 911 that a man armed with a knife was pacing around, covered in blood, after the stabbing. Mielock was seen on the ground, severely injured, while people nearby attempted to help him. Officers responding to the original theft call were updated that the incident had become a stabbing involving a suspect armed with a knife. Minutes later, police spotted Kirby running along Abbot Road, carrying what appeared to be the knife. Body camera and dash camera footage show officers pulling their patrol vehicles to a stop in the roadway as Kirby moved toward them. Officers shouted commands for him to get on the ground and drop the weapon. Within seconds, they opened fire. Video released by the department shows three separate bursts of gunfire over roughly 20 seconds. Kirby fell to the ground after the initial shots but continued moving and holding the knife at times. Officers continued yelling commands before eventually approaching him with a shield, removing the knife, and rendering medical aid. Kirby was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mielock survived after emergency surgery and several days in intensive care. #police #policia #crime #cops #polizei #crimenews #lawenforcement

Man Armed with Pipe Wrench Shot by Greensboro Officer Greensboro, North Carolina — On August 5, 2025, at approximately 4:06 p.m., Officer Wyatt of the Greensboro Police Department was flagged down by a resident in the 1600 block of Marion Street regarding a trespasser call. The resident directed the officer to a man identified as 48-year-old Said Ezzine, who was suspected of trespassing on a nearby property. Officer Wyatt was familiar with Ezzine from previous encounters. Ezzine’s arrest history included charges of assault on officers. Officer Wyatt began speaking with Ezzine to investigate further and had reasonable suspicion to detain him. The officer issued repeated commands for Ezzine to stop, but Ezzine refused to comply with those lawful commands. Officer Wyatt drew his department-issued Taser but did not deploy it and returned it to its holster as Ezzine continued to walk away. Ezzine continued to ignore repeated commands as the officer attempted to detain him. He walked onto the property where he had been trespassing and approached a shed, where he retrieved a metal steering wheel lock and began advancing toward the officer. During this time, Officer Wyatt repeatedly commanded Ezzine to drop the weapon. Ezzine returned to the shed, retrieved a saw blade, and again advanced toward the officer while brandishing it. He then threw the blade to the ground, picked up a large pipe wrench, and continued advancing. Officer Wyatt discharged his firearm, striking Ezzine. Ezzine got up and ran behind the residence. Officer Wyatt ran around the front of the home and then returned to the backyard, where he located Ezzine. The officer immediately requested EMS as another officer arrived to assist. El Paso PD Finds Use of Force Lawful in Resisting Arrest Incident On April 1, 2026, in Central El Paso, Texas, El Paso police officers executed an arrest warrant at a house in the 600 block of East Rio Grande Avenue for 28-year-old Kelcee Renee Hufford. She faced charges of assault causing bodily injury involving family violence, stemming from a dispute with her roommate over rent on March 31. A cellphone video recorded by Hufford’s mother, which went viral on social media around April 3, showed a chaotic scene inside the home. Officers attempted to handcuff Hufford as she resisted. One officer delivered a closed-fist punch to her face while she was pinned down. Hufford continued struggling before officers subdued and arrested her. She was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on family violence/assault and resisting arrest charges with bonds set at $3,000 and $1,000, respectively. Hufford was released the same day on a personal recognizance bond. The El Paso Police Department initially acknowledged the video in a statement, noting that force was used during the apprehension and that the Internal Affairs Division would review the incident per policy. On April 10, 2026, Chief Peter Pacillas held a press conference at police headquarters in Central El Paso. He stated that Internal Affairs and a Use of Force Discipline Review Board (six officers and six civilians) investigated and determined the officers’ actions, including the punch, were within department policy and the law. Chief Pacillas supported his officers, saying the punch constituted a justified use of force against active resistance during a violent offense warrant. “The officer acted within the law and policy... that’s what I expect my officers to do,” he added, emphasizing that resistance turns the encounter into a fight regardless of the suspect’s gender or size. #ElPasoPD #ElPasoArrest #CentralElPaso #UseOfForce #ViralArrestVideo #ChiefPacillas #FamilyViolence #ResistingArrest #ElPasoPolice #police #cops #crime #policia #polizei
