I am incandescent with rage right now. I feel sick to the stomach. A US Vice President stood today on the soil of where so many Americans gave their lives to defeat fascism in Europe. He delivered a disgraceful speech that spat on their graves. Not that we should expect any different, given his boss skipped visiting the graves of fallen Americans in Europe for fear of getting his hair wet. The same man who called the same fallen heroes suckers and losers. As a Brit that loves America and the American people, I am deeply disturbed at the insults delivered by a man who once described Donald Trump as an “idiot" and said he was "reprehensible." Privately, comparing him to Adolf Hitler. How times have changed. Vance is now part of the most authoritarian administration in American history. An administration actively seeking to deny bodily autonomy to women. An administration pursuing the same mass deportation of immigrants that Europe witnessed in 1930s Germany. Vance is a man that his own president doesn’t even see as his successor. He came to Europe to vomit his Christo-fascist bile on leaders from the UK and across Europe, in what appears to be a retribution tour designed to assert American power. The U.S. are to my knowledge the only NATO country to have invoked Article 5 of the NATO charter after 9/11. We, his European allies, met that call with no questions asked. We sent thousands of soldiers to the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq to fight a war on the false premise of Donald Rumsfeld’s ‘known unknowns’. We did this despite millions of our own citizens protesting in the streets of our cities. Our military stood shoulder to shoulder with his military and we, like many Americans, stood to salute our fallen young men and women returning home day after day. I have tears in my eyes as I write this, thinking of them and their loved ones. Our brave men and women willingly gave their all and far too many made the ultimate sacrifice in support of an American led war. For the record, 6000 Ukrainian solders server alongside American soldiers in Iraq. This, despite Ukraine not being a member of NATO. In 1994 upon signing the Budapest Memorandum they gave up their nuclear weapons in return for security assurances from the US and the UK. These were then reneged upon in 2014 when Russia invaded Crimea. They were told ‘An assurance is not a guarantee’. Now, despite their friendship and their brave sacrifice on the battlefields of Ukraine, the President of the United States has decided to abandon them and hand a victory to an indicted war criminal, who illegally invaded the sovereign territory of a US ally. An ally who’s soldiers had previously lost their lives supporting America in its war on terror. SHAME ON HIM. Shame on the man who dodged the draft and never served a day in defense of his nation. He is a coward and I would gladly call him that to his face. To all those Americans on social media currently posting vile insults to those who have always been there for America, I say, democracy is bigger than you, as you sit anonymously behind your phones posting poison. America might have the most powerful army on the planet, but remember, that same army fled from Saigon after being handed their ass by a bunch of peasant rice farmers, armed with grenades made from discarded US coke cans. Ukraine have been to the Russian army what the Vietnamese were to you and we salute them. You might want to throw Ukraine under the bus while stealing there mineral deposits, BUT EUROPE WILL NOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN. I know for sure that the UK will not abandon the Ukrainian people. Our aid to GDP contribution already exceeds that of the US as does Poland, Germany Finland and others. The U.S. is no longer a reliable ally and if need be, we will stand with Ukraine without America. As for your pathetic tariffs, do your worst. You will soon have no friends but thugs and autocrats, so I’m sure Wun Dum Fuc will be right at home.

I cannot tell you just how significant this speech is by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Europe is in my view about to call Trump’s bluff and I really don’t think Americans understand just how catastrophically damaging this could be in terms of long term economic impact. Europe has had enough, as have NATO allies. Trump is about to burn 75 years of close partnerships to satisfy his pathetic ego. I believe that the US has just been schooled in the limitations of conventional conflict. In my opinion this is a war they will long live to regret. Not because conventional strikes can’t do enormous damage, but because they have revealed their limitations and China has had a front row seat. It is incredulous to me that after seeing what Russia has experienced in Ukraine the U.S. would arrogantly assume that this could never happen to them, yet here we are. Wars are no longer fought in a conventional way, and Iran has exposed a huge weakness in the conventional thinking applied when it comes to countering an enemy schooled in the art of asymmetric warfare. Trump’s abject failure at diplomacy is embarrassing. He now has Gulf states denying him access to bases and critical airspace and usual allies want no part of his failed extortion attempt. China’s military planners have been gifted a treasure trove of data on how the U.S. operates against what would be considered a second or third tier state. The U.S. has expended vast amounts of munitions that will take years to replace and they will walk away from this with nothing, having been forced to unfreeze billions of frozen Iranian assets. Not only that, Iran will be in a stronger position than before this imbecilic move by an out of his depth president. I listened to the President of the United States use the murder of someone who played a significant role in helping him win the White House to anoint Charlie Kirk a political martyr. It was no coincidence that his death was announced not by a doctor at the hospital or a spokesperson of the family or Turning Point USA. If you have seen the footage of the shooting (which I would not advise), you will have seen there is little doubt he died within minutes at the scene. The announcement of his death was a politically choreographed moment in which Trump could simply not pass up the opportunity for him to be centre of attention. It sickens me that this is what America has become. The people deserve better. As I stated in my post following the shooting there is not one single point on which I agreed with Charlie Kirk, but nobody deserves to be murdered for their political beliefs. I found him morally repugnant. A peddler of misogyny, homophobia and an unapologetic racist who spent his time attempting to poison the minds of young people with his white Christian Nationalist views that are antithetical to Christian teachings. Despite my opinion of him, he did not deserve to die for the beliefs he held and I would fight to defend his right to hold them. He has left behind a wife and 2 small children whose last memory of their father should not be a gaping hole in his neck emptying his life in an ocean of blood on the ground. Nobody deserves that. He fervently believed that the numerous gun deaths in America each year were an acceptable price for the preservation of the second amendment and in a twist of irony he became a martyr to that cause NOT the America that Trump is creating and he painted in his disgusting address to the nation. The flag outside the White House flew at half mast not out of respect, but as an act of performative politics. Let’s not forget that a couple of weeks ago, two young children died while they prayed in a Minnesota catholic church. There were no half mast flags to mark their passing because they held no political value. It is likely there will be acts of retribution as we see right wing politicians and talking heads stoking the fires of political violence. I’m sure Trump is already planning to maximise the political value of Kirk’s death with a made for TV funeral event to cement his martyrdom. These are dark times. I will not shed a tear for Charlie Kirk. America will be subjected to slightly less Christian Nationalist propaganda with his passing. I’ll leave you with his own words in the hope that when he met his maker he didn’t have to attempt to debate his way into heaven, because he may find St Peter quoted him Matthew 25:40 ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me.

Let me make this absolutely clear. Last night bombers took off, drones were launched and missiles were fired from Russia. Ukrainian air defences knew they were coming, but had no idea what their targets were, because the President of the United States prohibited vital intelligence to be shared with battlefield commanders. Last night Donald Trump actively assisted an indicted war criminal to murder Ukrainian civilians. America’s president is now a MURDERER as well as a convicted felon. I’m sure Putin will present him with a medal when he visits Moscow.

Excuse my French but, this is the most fucking disgraceful and disgusting statement made by any American president ever. Almost 700 British soldiers died in America’s war on terror after the only time Article 5 of the NATO Charter was invoked to come to the aid of the United States. Soldiers from many NATO nations lost their lives alongside the Brits and US soldiers, so how can a five times fucking draft dodger have the audacity to spit on the graves of heroes that DID answer America’s call? We are sick and tired of the lies the threats and the bullying. Let’s get this straight from the outset. The sole intent of this meeting in the Oval Office, was a tag team mugging designed specifically to disgracefully humiliate a war time president in front of the world’s media, for the sole purpose of gaining leverage. Just one problem, Zelenskyy hadn’t read the script. He was OK until JD Vance lit the blue touch paper looking for Zelenskyy to get down on his knees and show gratitude to a president, who had spent his entire campaign attempting to block military aid to Ukraine. JD Vance has been the chief cheerleader to not give Ukraine a cent. So tell me, who was Zelenskyy supposed to thank? Did they plan to invite Joe Biden into the room? The reality of the situation is, Zelenskyy is viewed as an obstruction to their attempted extortion of his nation’s mineral wealth. So it’s no surprise Lady Lyndsay Graham is now calling for his resignation. The Ukrainian president owes no loyalty to this administration, all they have ever done is try to starve him of military aid which they did successfully for six months resulting in thousands of Ukrainian soldiers losing their lives. Meanwhile, the President of the United States has unilaterally decided to align with a Russian war criminal. Trump has demanded nothing from Putin by way of reparations for Russian aggression. Instead, preferring to insist Ukraine pay reparations as the VICTIM of an illegal invasion. To really twist the knife, he is illegally attempting to convert lawfully appropriated funds, retrospectively to a loan. $183 billion dollars of aid has been appropriated, NOT $350 billion as claimed by Trump. 70% of the military aid funding, has been spent in arms manufacturing plants across America, providing jobs and profits to those companies. You won’t be surprised to note that many Republicans hold stocks in those companies too. In many cases the newly manufactured hardware has gone into U.S. stock, while the older stocks have been shipped to Ukraine. These same plants have also been paid by NATO allies and European countries who supplied aid to Ukraine. I’d really like to take a look at the premiums that were added to these orders. The U.S. has been the primary economic benefactor of the Ukraine war, while simply drip feeding just enough hardware for Ukraine to hold off the Russian army. At every twist and turn Ukraine has been exploited, so Zelenskyy has every right to be pissed off and say enough of this shit. Here’s where we are. The Trump Administration has every intention of throwing Ukraine under the bus as a favor to Putin, so that Trump can align America with Russia. Bizarre really, when you consider it’s an economic basket case feeding its soldiers on out of date rations. The only beneficiary of this realignment is Putin. He needs sanctions lifting quickly before his economy collapses. This geopolitical move by Trump effectively destabilizes European security, because the lifting of sanctions will allow Putin to regroup, then take another stab at Ukraine before moving on to the Balkan states. European and the NATO allies must stop thinking they can rehabilitate their abuser. It can’t be done. When a bully steals your lunch money today, rest assured he’ll be back tomorrow. It’s time to rip off the bandaid. Revoke the leases on all US bases, in the interests of the global threat presented by the Russo-American alliance. Invite South Korea, Australia and New Zealand into a new alliance. Cancel all military contracts and current licenses for military tech to the U.S. It’s time for a new global alliance. This can then form the foundation for a new economic alliance to rival the dollar. This can be done, there just has to be the will to do it. America has now declared war on the world, so it’s time to demonstrate that the world has had enough. We need to STOP living in fear of our abuser.
