We have an exciting announcement! Our red panda, Raya, who was born at the Zoo in 2021, gave birth on June 13! Sadly, several cubs didn’t survive, which isn’t unusual—their mortality rate is nearly 50% in the first year. We are cautiously optimistic about the surviving male!

Our Chacoan peccary herd just grew again! Three adorable little peclets were born on Tuesday to mom Vanilla Bean and dad Stoop. Chacoan peccaries are an endangered species native to the Gran Chaco region of South America. Peclet video by Keeper Cassie and Zoo Director Josh.

We know someone who enjoys the winter! It's Raya, the red panda! Visitor Carrie captured her being extra playful with her toy on Sunday. Don't forget, we're closed for Winter Days today and tomorrow, January 24-25, due to the dangerously cold temperatures.
