Mumbai has seen some violent incidents on its local trains in recent weeks. One man was murdered inside a moving train with a knife, while another passenger was attacked with a sickle after a seat dispute. Now, a Lokmat Times sting has exposed a shocking security lapse in the Mumbai Metro. One might argue that such lapses are harder to prevent across Mumbai’s vast suburban rail network, but there is no excuse for them in the Metro. A reporter carried a knife through a security checkpoint to test the system, yet the weapon passed through both the metal detector and the baggage scanner without being flagged or questioned. Despite recent attacks, even basic security checks appear to be missing. Millions depend on public transport every day, yet commuter safety continues to be treated as an afterthought. Another gem from Pranit More. This man is pure filth. The fact that people find this funny is disturbing enough, but the audience laughing along and cheering it on makes it even worse. And seeing women in the crowd actively participating in this spectacle is honestly baffling. This isn’t humour, it’s gutter-level garbage being applauded as entertainment.

When we talk about the Tarun Tejpal case and how some sections of the left-liberal intellectual space, including several prominent feminist voices, came out in his defence, one of the most shocking aspects was the role of Shoma Chaudhury, who was the managing editor of Tehelka at the time. She had also defended Tejpal after the allegations surfaced. She was someone many young women and men looked up to, including me. I used to read Tehelka avidly and was a huge admirer of her writing. Her response to the case left me deeply disappointed. A similar parallel can be drawn with the M. J. Akbar case, where journalist Seema Mustafa came under scrutiny after allegations against Akbar surfaced during the #MeToo movement. Journalist Ghazala Wahab had written about her experience of alleged sexual harassment by her former editor at The Asian Age. She stated that she had confided in Seema Mustafa, who was then the newspaper’s bureau chief, and that while Mustafa heard her account, the responsibility of deciding the next course of action was left entirely to her. When men are accused of sexual misconduct, the role of women who enable, minimise, or defend them becomes equally disturbing. What makes it even more disappointing is that some of these very people have spent years speaking about women’s rights, feminism, and equality. Yet, when faced with uncomfortable realities within their own circles, their actions sometimes reflect the same patriarchal attitudes they claim to oppose. Tehelka M.J. Renuka Chowdhury is my favourite politician. She’s the OG baddie. Fearless, witty, and a phenomenal orator, she owns every interview and every debate she walks into. Congress is seriously underutilising one of its strongest communicators. She already has a huge appeal among millennials and Gen Z. It’s time the party gave her the visibility she deserves. Yesterday, I called out Rahul Gandhi over the way protesters were beaten in Jharkhand. I even called him a hypocrite. But moments later, he held a press conference and posted on X, openly criticising the action against the protesters. By doing so, Rahul stood against a state government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, where Congress is an alliance partner. That is rare in Indian politics. How often do we see an ally publicly call out its own coalition government? This is what, to me, gives Rahul Gandhi his moral clarity. He has shown it time and again. The BJP is now protesting against Rahul in Parliament and demanding that he apologise for the Jharkhand incident. They want Rahul to take accountability, even though he is not the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. His party is merely an alliance partner in the state. Yet where is the accountability from Narendra Modi or Amit Shah for the brutal crackdown on students during the Delhi protest on July 28? On one side, you have Rahul Gandhi publicly criticising an ally’s government when he believes it has acted wrongly. On the other, you have a Prime Minister who expects protesters to apologise to him because some of them used abusive language against him. That is the difference.

Last night, getting back from Jantar Mantar wasn’t easy. Internet jammers made it nearly impossible to book a cab or bike online. Thankfully, a Rapido rider offered me a ride home. When I tried to pay him, he politely refused. He told me he had been doing this voluntarily, helping people travel to and from Jantar Mantar because they couldn’t book rides. He had even been dropping people to the airport and to their homes, free of charge. This is what heroism looks like. This is also why the student and youth protest became such a success. Everyone contributed in whatever way they could. Some raised slogans, some volunteered, and some simply made sure strangers got home safely.

This is North Korea level shit. Giving Mark Zuckerberg a three day ultimatum to apologise over the removal of the Prime Minister’s video, and threatening to withdraw Meta’s legal protections if he doesn’t, is an astonishing abuse of power. This is what happens when a government becomes so fragile that even an unintended slight is treated as an attack on the nation. The message is clear: question, criticise, or even make an honest mistake involving one man, and there will be consequences. No individual, not even the Prime Minister, should ever become bigger than the nation. That’s not how a democracy is supposed to function. Meta Mark Zuckerberg

As expected. I posted a video on Instagram about Raghav Chadha meeting RW influencers and YouTubers, and it’s been restricted in India. What’s the reason for this fear? It’s not just Pranit More, Madhur Virli, or Harsh Gujral. There’s another comedian, Kaviraj Singh, whose work often crosses into sexism and misogyny. A quick scroll through his content shows a pattern: patriarchal “jokes” passed off as casual observations. In one clip, he talks about schoolgirls “showing cleavage” on Instagram. The issue isn’t just the line, but the fixation, why a grown man is so focused on that in the first place. Bodies aren’t public property, and social media isn’t built for one kind of gaze. In another, he calls women’s ability to give birth their biggest “cool factor.” That reduces women to a single function, ignoring everything else they are — professionals, creators, leaders, caregivers, and more. He needs to be cancelled, just like Pranit More, along with all comedians who normalise this kind of sexism. Kaviraj

I’ll give credit where credit is due. Today, I’ll say that Modi is India’s best Prime Minister ever because he truly does more than what is expected of him. Take the recently inaugurated Jewar airport in Noida. It was inaugurated just a few months ago, and now, after the rains, there’s a lake forming inside the airport. The airport’s total estimated cost is around ₹30,000 crore, while the first phase alone, which was inaugurated, cost around ₹11,300 crore. But this lake comes completely free. So, clearly, this was a surprise gift for passengers from the Honourable Prime Minister. 😂 #JewarAirport

Exposing Incels’ Sardaar Amit Kilhor | Part 1 amit kilhor is a cowardly, misogynistic, sexist, and ignorant man. He spent the entire day on X posting against me, then uploaded an Instagram video calling me anti national and whatnot. But after getting trolled for his misogyny and sexism, and when his posts and video against me failed to gain any traction, he deleted almost everything, including the Instagram video, and blocked me on both X and Instagram. Unlike him, I’m not deleting this. It’ll stay right here.
