NDP BC Premier David Eby is blaming everyone but himself for Nutrien building its new port facility in the US, not Vancouver. I was asked about that on the Evan Bray show this morning and here was my answer. Every team I've played on, I want all of the players to score, not just myself. Premier Eby isn't sharing that same approach to this project.

Federal Minister Champagne says Canada will not remove EV tariffs that have resulted in Chinese canola tariffs because: "We want to protect our industries. We want to protect our workers. We want to protect our communities." Here is my response to that. What about Saskatchewan workers in Saskatchewan communities in the Saskatchewan canola industry? Team Canada can't just mean Team Quebec.

Our Canadian canola industry is every bit as important to our economy and jobs as Canadian steel, aluminum, auto manufacturing and forestry. And a lot more significant than the electric vehicle industry. Here is my statement on the 76 per cent tariffs on canola imposed by China today.

The teachers’ union has said they would like the same salary formula that MLAs have and that they will return to the bargaining table if the government offers a new mandate. Earlier this afternoon, that very deal was offered. Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill explains the new offer.

The NDP is presenting a false choice between separation and the status quo. I’m not interested in separation, but I’m also not interested in the status quo of Saskatchewan being mistreated by the federal government, with the full support of the NDP. In the federal election, Saskatchewan people voted for change and I will be working on behalf of Saskatchewan to achieve that change.

Two weeks from today, the new provincial budget will deliver the largest ever increase in school operating funding and a record new commitment to address classroom size and complexity. Today, I am taking the unusual step of announcing part of the education budget prior to budget day, to clearly demonstrate our commitment to address teachers’ concerns around classroom supports. In light of these significant new commitments, I am asking the STF to pause their job action so that teachers and students can return to their classrooms, and the teachers’ union can return to the bargaining table.

The SaskParty has opposed the federal carbon tax since Day 1 and that’s why today, SK is the only completely carbon-tax free province in Canada. The NDP has supported the carbon tax since Day 1 and that’s why Canada has a carbon tax in the first place. In the Assembly today, I outlined the difference between our two parties.

Tomorrow, the 2024 election campaign will officially begin. The choice in this election is clear. The Saskatchewan Party has a plan for a strong economy and a bright future. The NDP has a record of decline, loss and closures. Let’s never go back to that. Let’s keep our economy strong and our future bright.
