Ever since Remake, I’ve had this idea that eventually characters who exist in other “worlds” across the lifestream — or a life beyond death, even — might find a way to interact with those in the main world. I wonder if we will get a battle system where characters like Zack and Aerith or even Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie might be able to contribute. Somewhat similar to how Aerith’s “presence” bolstered Zack in the final battle and each party handled a different iteration of Sephiroth. Think about it: a battle for the planet across every world and possibility. After all, an omnitemporal Sephiroth demands and omnitemporal solution. Personally, I think it’d be incredible.

Not to exhaust the point but this clip also really emphasized the same point. While Tifa does pose the biggest threat to Sephiroth’s plans, due to what she means for Cloud’s salvation, everyone’s bonds lend some aid to the effort. Thus severing Cloud from each of them is the key.

The Bonds of Friendship brutal challenge has convinced me this is the best battle system this series has ever had. It has the strategy and minnmaxxing of the old games with fast paced urgency of new playstyles. FF needs to adopt this basic system for all future entries. #ff7r
