Nobuo Uematsu revealed that there is actually a wrong note in the original Final Fantasy Prelude song! He said due to hardware limitations and main programmer Nasir Gebelli not understanding music so well the scale of sounds they could make was limited. In his FF music live talk show he explained what he actually wanted it to sound like. It was made in a rush so they couldn’t check it properly but Uematsu was able to fix it in later versions of the Prelude in the following FF games!

I met Uematsu-san and had a short chat with him, and I'm so grateful to hear that, even after all this time, he's still on the very same mission: Writing beautiful music for the sake of those who come after. The Midgar Zolom scene in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth embodies the complete lack of artistry in this trilogy: OG FF7 -A monstrous enemy that is too strong for you to beat is killed off-screen by Sephiroth -We don't know how he did it. You can imagine him lifting it with his bare hands and spiking through the tree -The image is so visceral, you can almost feel it -Powerful use of music, intense colors, lightning & thunder to enhance the atmosphere -Looks like a renaissance painting FF7 Rebirth -Nothing left to the imagination -Slow, ponderous build up and execution -Sephiroth popping it in the air with a little spell just looks lazy, weightless and crap -No blood -Uninteresting colors. Nothing striking about the visual. Generic music -Character reactions to it are more the focus than the actual visual itself -Completely forgettable image OG FF7's Zolom is one of the most iconic images in video game history Rebirth's Zolom is not even worth mentioning If you're gonna change things, make it better. Or at least make it as good. Don't make it worse #FF7 #FF7Rebirth #FinalFantasy7

Listen to Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess team's take on an iconic song from Okami with "Rising Sun (Kunitsu-Gami Matsuri Ver.)" Play Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess with special Okami collaboration content, available now! It was challenging to figure out how to blend the pop and catchy world and sound of Okami with the dark and psychedelic world and sound of Kunitsu-Gami. It was a challenge to strike the right balance—how much to lean toward one side or the other. We also had ermhoi participate in the chorus. - Composer Chikara Aoshima This is one of the most iconic tracks in the history of video game music, and I’d like to share a memorable episode involving Aoshima-san. When arranging this piece, Aoshima-san didn’t just listen to the music repeatedly—instead, he first experienced how the track was used in the original Okami game, and how it felt from a player’s perspective. He valued that emotional experience and used it as the foundation for his arrangement. It became one of the most memorable tracks, arranged with deep respect for Okami. Ermhoi, who also performed the main theme song, participated in the chorus for this track as well. - Music Director Ken Aseem Usami
