VIDEO | Delhi: Supreme Court quashes FIRs not involving bodily harm and destruction of property against NEET protesters. Advocate Vrinda Grover says, "Today, the Hon'ble Supreme Court has passed a very significant order. We know that there were protests not only in Delhi at Jantar Mantar but across the country in many states by students and young people seeking reform in the education system and the resignation of the Education Minister. Particularly after July 20, when there was the 'Chalo Sansad' March, there were many criminal cases and FIRs lodged by police across states, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, UP, Madhya Pradesh, of course Delhi, Maharashtra. All the state governments, in a meeting that took place on July 25, when the protest was finally called off, there was an assurance given by the Union government to the representatives of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) that there would be no criminal cases against the protesters and that compensation would be paid. Applications have been filed by many states with lists of FIRs against the protesters... It (SC) has quashed today all FIRs across the country relating to the protests from July 20 to 25 with regard to the students and the exams. They also said that if this FIR list may be incomplete, any other FIR relating to the same incidents will also be quashed..."

VIDEO | The Supreme Court passes order quashing all the FIRs against protesters during NEET protests. Advocate Vrinda Grover informs, "The honourable Supreme Court of India has today passed a very significant order. As we know that from 20th to 25th July, there were very active protests in Delhi, at Jantar Mantar and in many parts of the country relating to reform in education. During the protests, police across states have launched cases, criminal cases against the protesters, against the youth. There is now an assurance that was given on 25th July by the Union government to the Cockroach Janta Party representatives that they will not pursue any of the criminal proceedings and they will give compensation. In so far as the innumerable FIRs launched across states, from Bihar to West Bengal, UP, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, of course. All those FIRs today, by the order of the honourable Supreme Court, and with the applications were moved by the states. So the states and the Union government have said that they will not pursue, they are to be quashed and the court has passed an order quashing the FIRs, all the FIRs. The Supreme Court has invoked its extraordinary jurisdiction under Article 142 of the Constitution of India because the court says the right to protest, the freedom to protest and express yourself is a fundamental right and that cannot be taken away. What is also significant is that with regards to the compensation they have agreed that it will be formulated and paid in the next three months..." #SupremeCourt #NEETProtests

VIDEO | Delhi: Trans-athlete Anaya Bangar, a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder and daughter of former India player and decorated coach Sanjay Bangar, says she was heartbroken after being 'served with silence' by the BCCI when she first approached the Board for assistance in becoming part of India's women's cricket set-up. The 25-year-old found support from Cricket Australia, which allowed her to compete at the community shield level. She said, "It is very disappointing and heartbreaking that I was served with silence. I knew that transitioning was going to make me steer away from cricket. I hope that the BCCI is open to this and tries to form policies surrounding this topic, since my case is a first in India. "I would be happy to be a part of the team and provide my insights and learnings throughout my whole journey and what would work best for our country and women's sport in the future," she added. VIDEO | Delhi: CJP spokesperson Saurav Das says, "I had filed an injunction suit also seeking Rs 2 crore in damages from certain persons and organisations that were running fake news and all kinds of propaganda against me and invading my private life. It's a right-to-privacy suit. The Delhi High Court took up the matter. Platform X has already taken action against, I think, all of these tweets proactively, because of which an injunction was not required today. And the next date of hearing is September 14, when a more detailed hearing would happen on the injunction application. We hope that the right to privacy of everybody, not just me, will be protected by the High Court, as it has already protected several others, including Prime Minister Modi's degree and everything else that has been protected in the past. So, I'm sure the right-to-privacy application will also succeed in that manner. We have full faith in the Delhi High Court."
