Mbappé might be the dictator of football… but Lamine Yamal could dictate France’s entire defensive structure. 🇫🇷 If France attack, expect a 2-4-4 with Koundé given licence to attack because Baena isn’t the same vertical threat as Nico Williams. That allows Dembélé to isolate Cucurella. But the danger is the other side. Digne cannot survive alone against Yamal. France may have to sacrifice numbers elsewhere just to contain him. 🇪🇸 If Spain dominate possession, expect a 2-1-4-3 with Rodri protecting the back two and Spain constantly trying to create overloads around Yamal. The question becomes: if France send Saliba, Digne, Koné and Rabiot towards Yamal… who picks up Dani Olmo? Because while Mbappé vs Yamal sells the tickets… Olise vs Olmo could decide the match. #fifaworldcup

WHY Granit Xhaka Could UNLOCK Cole Palmer… At 33, he doesn’t fit the profile of a typical BlueCo signing. But he might be the perfect signing for Xabi Alonso. When the pair worked together at Leverkusen, Xhaka became one of the best passers in Europe. His ability to dictate tempo, play through pressure and find runners from deep was fundamental to Alonso’s system. That relationship could be recreated at Chelsea. Alongside Moisés Caicedo, Xhaka could alternate between dropping into the first phase of build-up and progressing play, while Cole Palmer occupies the pockets between the opposition’s midfield and defence, giving Chelsea elite creators in both deep and advanced areas. Of course, there are risks. At 33, his athleticism isn’t what it once was, so Chelsea would need to surround him with runners rather than ask him to cover huge spaces on his own. But that’s something Alonso has already shown he knows how to manage. And when you compare the reported fee through the Telstar Transfer Index, it falls into a similar range to Claude Makélélé’s move to Chelsea. For a player who already understands every detail of Alonso’s football, that could prove to be one of the smartest deals of the summer. Chelsea fans, would you bring Xhaka to Stamford Bridge? 👀🔵 📹Samson Kalnińş Brough

WHY Marco Palestra Could Be Perfect For Xabi Alonso… Chelsea’s latest signing might not be the headline-grabber, but tactically it makes a lot of sense. Marco Palestra looks tailor-made for the demands of modern wing-back play. He’s explosive, two-footed, loves carrying the ball forward and consistently turns his dribbles into productive actions rather than empty touches. That versatility could be incredibly valuable under Xabi Alonso. Whether it’s right wing-back, left wing-back or even a more advanced role in a lopsided system, Palestra has the athletic profile to become a genuine weapon in possession. But there are still questions to answer. His defensive activity is relatively low, his 1v1 defending needs work, and Chelsea’s recent history of signing young talents shows that development pathways matter just as much as potential. The challenge will be giving him the right environment to turn that talent into top-level production. And when you compare the fee through the Telstar Transfer Index, it starts to look less like an overpay and more like a calculated bet on upside. Chelsea fans, where do you see Palestra fitting into Alonso’s system? 👀🔵 📹Samson Kalnińş Brough

VAR reached the right decision behind the curtain isn’t the point… justice must be seen to have been done. We have the right to scrutinise whether VAR reached the right decision on a key key moment of knockout game affecting millions. #egypt #argentina #worldcup

WHY Mateus Fernandes Could Transform Tottenham’s Midfield… Replacing quality in midfield isn’t just about signing the biggest name. It’s about finding the right profile. Mateus Fernandes looks tailor-made for Roberto De Zerbi’s football. Comfortable receiving under pressure, constantly scanning the pitch and capable of breaking lines with progressive passes, he has all the tools to become the conductor of Spurs’ build-up. His role could mirror the one Moisés Caicedo played under De Zerbi at Brighton. Dropping alongside the centre-backs to help Tottenham play through pressure before driving forward to connect attacks, Fernandes offers the mobility and intelligence to control games from deep. There are still areas to develop. He isn’t a natural lone defensive midfielder, can occasionally overcarry the ball and would benefit from having a more defensive-minded partner alongside him to maximise his strengths. The reported £85m fee is eye-catching. But when you compare it using the Telstar Transfer Index, which adjusts historic transfer fees for football inflation, it would rank among the biggest investments in Tottenham’s history, surpassed only by Gazza in today’s money. If De Zerbi gets the midfield balance right, Spurs may have signed the perfect player to run his system. Spurs fans, would you spend £85m on Mateus Fernandes? 👀⚪ 📹Samson Kalnińş Brough

Made my live TV debut on Sky Sports yesterday... Not bad for a South Asian lad from a broken home where nobody cared about football. There were a lot of moments growing up where this life didn’t even feel remotely possible. Grateful to Sky Sports, Roman Kemp and everyone who’s supported the journey so far❤️

WHY Victor Munoz Could Be The PERFECT Iraola Winger… Not every signing needs to be a superstar. Sometimes it’s about finding players who perfectly fit the manager’s ideas. Victor Munoz is exactly the type of winger Andoni Iraola has built successful teams around. Direct, aggressive and constantly looking to attack defenders rather than recycle possession. At Osasuna, Munoz developed a reputation for turning successful dribbles into shots and dangerous attacking moments. His arrival could also change the dynamics on Liverpool’s left-hand side. Last season, much of the responsibility for providing width fell on Kerkez as Gakpo drifted inside. Now, with both Munoz and Ngumoha available, Liverpool have genuine wide threats capable of stretching teams themselves. And together, they give Iraola very different weapons to deploy. There are still areas to improve, particularly defensively, but if there’s one coach you’d trust to develop that side of a winger’s game, it’s Iraola. And when you compare the €40m fee to previous Liverpool signings through the Telstar Transfer Index, it starts to look less like a gamble and more like a calculated investment. Liverpool fans, is Munoz the next great Anfield winger? 👀🔴 📹Samson Kalnińş Brough

Reece James failing at yoga. He needs to radically rethink how he approaches his conditioning as he seems to think being a bodybuilder is going to help prevent injuries on the football field when a leaner, limber frame is what is needed to improve range of motion. #CFC #Chelsea
