Today, September 28, around 1–2 PM, a customer visited TASMAC shop #8160 in Kumbakonam taluk, Thanjavur district, to purchase a liquor bottle with an MRP of ₹140. Including the ₹10 refundable bottle deposit, the total should have been ₹150. However, the shop employee allegedly demanded ₹160. When the customer questioned the additional ₹10, the employee allegedly told him, “Pay ₹160 and buy it, or leave,” verbally abused him and attacked him with a liquor bottle. The customer reportedly suffered a bleeding head injury and has been admitted to Kumbakonam Government Hospital for treatment. A customer questioning overcharging allegedly ends up in hospital.
