Just when we thought our final drive at Amrit Vav was over, the stepwell surprised us once again. Three more endangered turtles were found today, one of them the largest, and likely the oldest, individual we’ve encountered here, along with two smaller ones. That brings the total number recorded at the site to 5. A fitting reminder that Amrit Vav still has many stories to tell.

Just when we thought our final drive at Amrit Vav was over, the stepwell surprised us once again. Three more endangered turtles were found today, one of them the largest, and likely the oldest, individual we’ve encountered here, along with two smaller ones. That brings the total number recorded at the site to 5. A fitting reminder that Amrit Vav still has many stories to tell.

UPDATE: Yesterday, we announced what may be the biggest discovery from this ancient vav so far. Today, we can finally show you the visuals. Buried beneath water, mud, and decades of neglect, a centuries-old deity idol has emerged from the depths of the stepwell. For its protection, the idol has been temporarily placed in a nearby temple and will be respectfully returned to its original place in the vav once restoration is complete. What you are seeing today is something no one has witnessed in decades. Ramdoot Restores #RevivingHeritage

Meet Rudra, a 13-year-old from Warasiya. Every Sunday, he tells his family he is "going out to play," but instead, he cycles down to join our Ramdoot Restores team! After seeing our reel about a local Vav (stepwell) in Vadodara, he showed up to help us restore it. While we often worry about Gen Z being stuck on screens, kids like Rudra are actively working to protect our ancient Dharohar. When the youth step up to preserve our culture, they build unshakeable character and confidence. Let’s show this young champion some love! 🙌 Ramdoot Restores #revivingheritage
