One of the Ethiopian military’s main challenges in this war against the Tigray Defense Forces will probably be the TDFs effective use of mortars and artillery in general. The battles in Adi Daero in 2022 showed exactly why. Waves of Eritrean soldiers were pushed toward TDF positions and destroyed by mortars before they could close the distance. Their commanders were desperate to end the war, so they sent wave after wave. In my opinion it was one of the most brutal battles of the Tigray war, Eritrean and Ethiopian meat waves doing repeated frontal attacks until the defenders run out of ammunition and have to retreat.
