The "KISS" sign spells "SICK" in the reflection in the mirror, and ironically, it's positioned above Maria's head. She also has a squint eye and a droopy mouth while waiting in Heaven's Night. That's possibly a memory of Mary's face while she was sick, as she has a squint eye in the Leave ending, where she's seen sick. Mary's body is in the backseat of James' car, here's an off-camera look. In the Stillness ending, he hallucinates that her dead body has come back to life. He killed her a few days ago and has since kept her in the car, according to the novel. He tries to convince himself she died 3 years ago, but in fact she was diagnosed 3 years ago, and that's when she "died" to him. Comparison between James' and Pyramid Head's models without the jacket, apron and helmet. Although they're supposed to be the same person there's a slight difference in their body type, Pyramid Head is leaner. Notice the scrapes on Pyramid Head's shoulders, caused by his helmet (and a few other closeups of details). In SH2R, something completely different might have happened to Maria before meeting James, than in BfaW. The smashed bottle of White Chrism, with the liquid spilled out, is evidence of a different story that happened off-screen. In OG SH2, Maria brought the White Chrism bottle inside the mansion, to help Ernest. In SH2R's normal NG, the White Chrism is smashed and spilled out in the garden, and James can inspect it, implying it's important. Then in NG+ another bottle appears, and there's an uneasiness in Maria's voice as she recognizes it. Which implies she might have smashed the bottle herself in the remake instead of helping Ernest, for some reason. Something might have went wrong when she returned to Baldwin Mansion with the White Chrism. Maria's comments on the Baldwin Mansion also don't seem right. BfaW ends just before James and Maria meet, but Maria talks about the mansion as if it's a distant bad memory that she doesn't fully remember. It's possible she's lying because she doesn't want to talk about what happened inside, which might have led her to smash the bottle (and therefore Ernest failed to bring his daughter Amy back). #silenthill #silenthill2

I don't understand why in SH2R James can't attack nor kill Maria. It served as a subtle hint that James is capable of killing someone he loves, and attacking her with the chainsaw made her scream just like the monsters, hinting at her true nature. Instead, in SH2R James refuses to aim at her, and if the player tries to aim at her she simply complains about the flashlight. While attacking Maria may appear as a useless mechanic, knowing the full story gives it a whole new meaning, and I wish it wasn't left out of the remake. Perhaps they could have added just a little hint that it crosses James' mind for a moment to hurt Maria. #silenthill #silenthill2
