Unlike his political peers and those before him, H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, PhD is not preoccupied with positions and the next election, but has a genuine national transformation, focused on making better the next generation. His emphasis is on improving people's lives; enabling farmers to move goods to markets, ensuring workers can reach their jobs and making food and basic necessities more accessible and affordable. The broader agenda, including housing and infrastructure, is centred on creating a country where opportunities and livelihoods are improved for the current and coming generation.

Works at the Wajir Stadium, venue for this year's Madaraka Day, are in their final phase, with the facility set to host an estimated 10,000 attendees. Activities will begin early to avoid extreme heat, with all guests expected to be seated by 7:00 a.m. ahead of H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, PhD's arrival, while the programme will conclude by midday. Remaining stadium works under KDF supervision will be completed after the celebrations, alongside ongoing efforts to improve local infrastructure, including road upgrades, community resettlement and enhanced water access through a newly drilled borehole.

The recently witnessed countrywide protests are but a smokescreen of the actual security situation in Sondu. This border town has for a long time balanced on the precipice of a brewing ethnic conflict between residents of Kisumu and Kericho counties. As an historical challenge therefore, even as we pursue a lasting remedy to stabilize this volatile region, we call upon the regional leadership from both divides to calm the locals and allow for security operations to restore law and order.
