The NHL is eyeing Austin while Stockholm is sitting right there. Austin’s football atmosphere is a joke next to Djurgården, and Sweden already lives hockey. A team in Stockholm would be absolute fire. The league really does have Stockholm syndrome keeps falling for markets that don’t care while ignoring the one that would go crazy for a team.

Bill Cowher said it best about Lane Kiffin: “It’s always about Lane Kiffin.” He wasn’t “emotional” last night he was embarrassed, acted like a sore loser, and walked off without congratulating or even making eye contact with his former players. And spare me the “for his protection” excuse. The guy’s a jerk. Always has been, always will be.

Gary Bettman keeps putting NHL teams in markets where hockey isn’t big, saying it will “grow the game.” But Atlanta showed you can’t force a city to care about hockey. Buffalo is the counterexample: a smaller market with a fan base that loves the Sabres and makes the building electric. Wisconsin already breathes hockey, too. Wisconsin is a much bigger hockey state than baseball and the environment of the Milwaukee Brewers, imagine what it would be like in the NHL playoffs?! If the goal is to grow the game, put a team where the passion is already there and let that passion show the rest of the country what hockey can be.

Put an NHL team in Madison and watch what happens. Madison breathes hockey; Austin has the population, but it doesn’t have that hockey culture. Winnipeg proves you don’t need to be a giant market: it’s one of the NHL’s smallest cities and one of the loudest, most passionate environments in all of sports. Build where the fans already live and breathe the game.

People can call me a jerk, but THIS is why the G5 is dying. Tulane went toe-to-toe with Kansas State. Darian Mensah threw 2 TDs to Alex Bauman and had them leading in the 4th. Where did Mensah and Bauman go? Miami. And how much compensation did Tulane get from Miami for developing that talent? $0. Then we ask, “Why can’t the G5 compete?”

Genuinely feel awful for Alex Bauman. In the era of gambling and social media, one missed block shouldn’t define a kid’s career. This is the same guy who caught the game-winning TD against USC in the Cotton Bowl and gave Tulane one of the greatest wins in program history. Remember THAT.

Everyone saying, “Ohio State won the playoff, and they were the better team” is completely missing the point. Ohio State lost TWO games to Michigan and Oregon. In the old system, they’re not even playing for a national championship. 2008 USC lost to Oregon State. Did that suddenly mean Oregon State was the better team? 😂 USC finished 12-1, allowed 9.0 POINTS PER GAME, ranked #1 nationally in scoring defense and held opponents to 221.8 yards per game. That defense has a legitimate argument as one of the greatest ever. Give that USC team a 12-team playoff and they would’ve dog-walked everybody. That’s the point: the expanded playoff changed what losing a regular-season game means which made college football so epic every Saturday

If you’ve never been to Cal Poly or San Luis Obispo, put it on your college football bucket list. SLO might genuinely be one of the coolest settings in the entire sport. A true college town on California’s Central Coast, surrounded by mountains, hiking, vineyards and the Pacific Ocean just minutes away. One of the most unique settings in college football. It’s Absolutely unbelievable place. There’s nothing else quite like Cal Poly and SLO. 🐎🏈🌊⛰️

So if Arizona wins out and finishes 11–1 without making the Big 12 title game, they’re out? Arizona would have played three top-12 teams: BYU, Utah and Texas Tech. Notre Dame’s top-12 games are BYU and Miami. If both finish 11–1, why does Notre Dame’s Miami “redemption” matter more than Arizona’s résumé?

San Diego State might be the worst program in America at selling itself. You’re recruiting kids to SAN DIEGO. North Park, La Jolla, Carlsbad, Coronado, Downtown, Sunset Cliffs, beaches, weather—the list is endless. People move here from all over the country and never want to leave. Everyone talks about these “unbelievable college towns,” but how many people are dying to stay there after graduation? SDSU shouldn’t have to sell San Diego. San Diego should be selling SDSU. It’s mind-boggling. 🌴🏈🌊

P.J. Fleck beating No. 5 Penn State, No. 11 USC, Washington and Michigan is impressive on its own. Doing it at Minnesota, without the same recruiting pull, roster depth or resources as those programs, makes it remarkable. He consistently gets his teams to play with discipline, toughness and belief and turns talent gaps into games his opponents don’t want to be in. Fleck is one of the most impressive coaches in the country.

Khalil Mack’s 2013 performance against Ohio State belongs in college football history. In Columbus, he racked up 9 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a pick-six, completely taking over the game against a Top-10 Buckeye team. One of the greatest individual defensive performances ever.

In 2011, future NFL legend Bobby Wagner nearly walked into Jordan-Hare and took down the defending national champion Auburn Tigers by himself. Utah State pushed Auburn to the brink in a 42-38 thriller, and Wagner was everywhere on defense. One of the great forgotten performances in college football
