Political space in India is slowly disappearing for ordinary people and families : > 1952 Lok Sabha: 26% of MPs were below 40. > Today: Only 7.6% of MPs are below 40. > But here’s the bigger problem: 67% of those 7.6% young MPs belong to political dynasties. > In 1952 and 1957 and 1962 MPs above 70 were almost negligible. > Today, they are around 17%. > Many stay in politics until they are settled, and then make sure the political space is passed on to a family member. Imagine the condition of people who don’t even know the name of the MP they voted for. They voted in the name of Modi, not for their local representative. And after the election, they even forgot why they voted. This is what happens when democracy becomes about a face, not accountability.
