An effective shot fake is more than just moving the ball—it’s about selling with your feet and your eyes. In this clip, Elisabeth Gadient gets her feet under her hips & eyes on the rim. The defense has to react, coming out of their stance, and she bails on the shot before even picking up her dribble. The ball matters, but your feet and eyes sell shot. Get those details right, and your shot fake will keep defenders guessing every time!

Shot Fakes are sold by having your feet under your hips and your eyes to the rim. If the defense is far enough away where they have to come out of their stance to contest, all you need to do is be in a position where you look like you could shoot. Notice in the video, Paige uses very little ball movement because she doesn’t need to. The defender is already out of her stance.

Here is a very simple read when getting into your attack. "Foot Fight" If you get your foot outside of your defender, then attack. If your defender beats your foot, drive opposite.

Relocating quickly to make yourself a threat is one of the most underappreciated skills. The longer it takes you to relocate the longer it is before you are a threat. That is an advantage for the defense.

Paige Karen Ouse ❤️ Born July 10th. Named after her beautiful mother and both grandmothers. My wife faced several serious complications after delivery, but we’re so incredibly thankful for the fast-acting doctors and nurses who stepped in. Grateful beyond words for our healthy girl and this new chapter as a family of 6! 🙏

Stopping opens up options, which is why your ability to slam on the brakes is crucial. If your defender stops on your hip, restart your attack immediately.

Six years ago, I was hosting invite-only runs packed with NBA and overseas pros. One day, I needed another big—and I texted a high school junior named Chet Holmgren. He was 7’0 and around 170 pounds… but none of that mattered. He walked into the gym and started solving problems like he’d been doing it for years. No fear. No hesitation. Just IQ, timing, and feel. Chet belonged.

Efficiency❗️ I love incorporating ball handling and footwork concepts into our finishing warm ups. In this clip we are incorporating “Bound” footwork - bouncing laterally to force a reaction.

Shooting Warm Up: SL PNR 🔘 Everyone has a ball 🔘 Line of basketballs on the block 🔘 Sprint out to set a screen 🔘 Screener becomes the next ball handler Don’t just replace. Play with purpose. Players need to bounce out to set up the ball screen in a game-like manner!

I'M MOVING! Over the past nine years, Minnesota has become home for me, my family, and Catalyst Training. We’ve worked with thousands of players, partnered with so many great programs, and built relationships that mean a lot more than just basketball. With that said… we’re expanding to Florida. My family and I will be moving to the Cocoa Beach area, and we’re excited for the next chapter and the new opportunities it brings. But let me make this very clear: nothing changes in Minnesota. I will continue to operate in Minnesota just like I always have. I’ll be flying back regularly to run workouts, work with teams, and continue investing in the players and programs that have trusted us for years. Minnesota is still a huge part of what we do, and it will stay that way. When I’m on the road, our staff will keep everything rolling — the same way they do every summer and every busy travel season. They’re incredible at what they do, and I have complete trust in them. This move to Florida doesn’t replace anything we’ve built in Minnesota… it simply adds to it. We’re growing, not shifting. If you’re in Florida and want to connect, reach out. Minnesota - I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be back often. The work continues.
