218 members signed a discharge petition to force a vote to extend ACA tax credits for three years. Speaker Johnson could have called for a vote to prevent premiums from skyrocketing on January 1st, saving millions of Americans from losing healthcare-Instead he cancelled votes and sent Members home. This is not leadership.

The Department of Education protects the civil rights of students, prepares teachers, handles student loans and our Pell Grant programs - they do not govern curriculum or instructional materials at the state, that already belongs to the states. So when people say that something was taken away, I don't know what they are asking for.

I will be voting No on the HALT Fentanyl Act. We cannot incarcerate our way out of this public health crisis. Let’s not repeat the mistakes of the past and find long term solutions that make meaningful investments in our communities and address the crisis of addiction.

This is NOT about “returning control to the states” Secretary McMahon is making the case for me, states ALREADY control curriculum instruction, instructional materials and hiring teachers. The Dept. of Education protects civil rights and is a pass-through for federal resources to support local programs. This budget will hurt low income communities by stripping funding.

Public schools provide the free & appropriate education that is mandated by law. Without U.S. Department of Education one of two things will happen: 1. Local districts will have to make decisions about which programs to cut 2. Local taxes will go up to close the funding gap and keep the programs
