After ICE illegally locked me out last week, I finally got into the Adelanto ICE facility. What I saw was horrifying: LA workers held in filthy, inhumane conditions, cut off from lawyers, family, and basic necessities. Rep. Linda Sánchez, Mark Takano, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Congresswoman Luz Rivas, and I saw it firsthand and we will be demanding answers and accountability from ICE.

Earlier today, I went to inspect the Metropolitan Detention Center after 6 Pasadena residents were detained. ICE agents even brandished a gun at a young man just for filming. I was denied entry despite my legal right as a Member of Congress to inspect DHS facilities. This is outrageous and unlawful.

Just wrapped up a press conference at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center where I was previously illegally denied entry. This time, I got in. What I saw was deeply disturbing. Detainees are being held in appalling conditions. More to come, but thankful to Rep. Linda Sánchez, Mark Takano, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, and Congresswoman Luz Rivas for joining me.

Last year, Rep. Gwen Moore and I marched into Speaker Johnson’s office demanding answers after Trump gave Elon Musk total access to Americans’ most sensitive data. Speaker Johnson called me “unhinged.” Last week, I joined Rep. John Larson because we now know that data ended up in the hands of a MAGA-aligned extremist group working to overturn election results. I will never apologize for demanding accountability. I’ll be as loud, as relentless, and as “unhinged” as it takes to protect the American people & our democracy.

We will not sit back and let this happen! Elon Musk already has billions, but apparently, that’s not enough. Now, he’s using a fabricated, unauthorized, and unaccountable “Department” to seize private tax information, undermine Medicare, attack public schools, and endanger workplace safety. No one elected him, yet he’s being given unchecked power. On behalf of my constituents, I will make my voice heard. And we will fight back together!
