🚨 Every Republican present in the House Appropriations Committee last night voted to make THEMSELVES eligible to collect from Trump's $1.8 billion January 6th slush fund. I am not making this up. I introduced an amendment to stop Members of Congress, the President, and the Vice President from collecting a single dollar from Trump’s slush fund unless a court actually orders it. Every single Republican who cast a vote was AGAINST my amendment, making themselves eligible for settlement funds. Members of Congress, the President, and the Vice President, have no business lining their own pockets by claiming they were victims of government weaponization. Trump set up this fund, now MAGA Republicans in Congress are ensuring they all can collect from it. That is exactly the kind of self-dealing corruption the American people are sick of.

Last October, the administration canceled billions in clean energy grants, calling it waste. Budget Director Russ Vought called it “green new scam funding.” Now we know the truth. A Department of Energy lawyer conceded that 284 grants, roughly $7,500,000,000, were terminated “solely” on political criteria: projects in states that voted against Trump and have two Democratic senators. Grants in Trump-voting states were left alone, even when the Energy Department had recommended cutting some of those too. This was money Congress appropriated for grid upgrades and job-creating energy projects, cancelled not for waste, but because of how people voted. The situation with the Kennedy Center has gone off the rails. It has officially reached levels of pettiness I didn’t think were possible, but Trump is once again defying the odds. A court ordered his name removed from the building. He lost, fair and square. So, what does he do? He throws a tarp over the sign that says “The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts” and just leaves it there. Not for a day, not for a week, but for WEEKS. A federal judge is demanding answers, because apparently we live in a country where a sitting president has to be hauled into court to explain why he’s hiding a building from the American public. A president with a real legacy doesn’t need to paste his name onto someone else’s. And he definitely doesn’t need to hide a sign because a court told him no. A weak man with a bruised ego would. And that’s exactly what’s happening here. It’s petty, it’s absurd, and frankly, it’s embarrassing.

It appears Energy Secretary Chris Wright was being less than truthful when he told me his department canceled billions in clean energy grants based "on merits and unrelated to politics." Apparently a clear and direct falsehood while testifying before Congress. Court documents filed this month show the Trump Administration terminated 283 grants “based solely” on whether the state voted for Kamala Harris in 2024 and had two Democratic senators. All the grants they cut sat in a state that backed Kamala Harris and has two Democratic senators. Meanwhile, every grant in a Trump state was left alone. This was never about waste. It was political revenge, carried out with billions of taxpayer dollars. I offered an amendment in April to make this exact abuse illegal, and every single Republican on the committee voted against it. Now the Administration has confessed in court to exactly what it denied before Congress. They didn’t tell the truth to Congress, weaponized taxpayer dollars, and punished Americans for exercising their right to vote. My Republican colleagues enabled them. That is corruption. And there must be consequences.

Not enough people are talking about this. Trump is trying to escape a $100 million dollar tax penalty, and Senate Republicans are helping him do it. You know about the $1.8 billion slush fund he tried to create to reward his political allies. They got so much pushback that they’ve halted that, at least for now. But what you probably don’t know is that Trump gave himself, his family, and his businesses complete immunity from IRS audits, past and future. Everyone focused on the slush fund, and almost nobody noticed the audit immunity. It’s still in place, and it cannot be allowed to stand.
