Matthew Stover gives a great explanation regarding the scene where Luke ignites his lightsaber over Ben Solo in THE LAST JEDI. Stover almost gets through to them. Luke’s voiceover in that scene for additional context: “I saw darkness. I sensed it building in him. I'd seen it in moments during his training. But then I looked inside, and it was beyond what I ever imagined. Snoke had already turned his heart. He would bring destruction and pain and death, and the end of everything | love because of what he will become, and for the briefest moment of pure instinct, I thought I could stop it. It passed like a fleeting shadow, and I was left with shame and with consequence. And the last thing I saw were the eyes of a frightened boy whose Master had failed him.”

A common criticism of the ST is the choreography. But it actually fits the timeline. These characters were trained in the wild, decades after the fall of the Jedi Order. The 7 forms fell out of practice. Even LUKE didn't learn them from Yoda, he only had books later. So Ben Solo wouldn't have been trained in them either. There is no reason that these characters should fight like Prequel Jedi, and the ST duels are more similar to the OT duels, because they take place after the OT.

I think the biggest problem with Disney/Lucasfilm is they put too much stock in pleasing the fans and member-berries. George just made the stories he wanted to make and he didn’t care if we got mad. It’s the difference between “filmmaker” and “corporation” making Star Wars.

This one sequence shows how Palpatine returned. The shots of the equipment, Snoke clones, and Palpatine's dialogue should be enough for any viewer to gather that he returned through some kind of cloning and used the Force. Additionally: "Dark science, cloning. Secrets only the Sith knew," is said a short time later.

Saying "Luke's attachment to Vader saved the galaxy" is wrong. Luke did not show attachment, only compassion and selflessness. He was intent on redeeming his father, but he was also ready to accept Vader's refusal and his own death. He had no attachment to Vader, only compassion for him. The only attachment Luke showed was to Leia, when Vader threatened her, and that was the moment that he nearly gave into fear and anger. But he was able to pull back and refuse to play Palpatine's games, accepting death as a Jedi should. It seems people just misunderstand "attachment" in this context, or what Luke really meant when he said things like "then my father is truly dead," or "soon I'll be dead, and you with me."
