'COWBOY BEBOP' Anime Soundtrack was created before the series even had a name. Yoko Kanno revealed in a 2023 Forbes interview that Shinichirō Watanabe brought her onto the project incredibly early, before there was a script or even an official title for the anime. At the time, she had only seen a few rough character sketches. By the time she finished composing the soundtrack, only 6–7 episodes had been written. She later praised Watanabe for knowing how to let music drive the storytelling, describing it as if he “made music videos around my music.”
