A month ago I posted a selfie from my PhD days and admitted I was having an existential crisis. This is what the crisis produced. "Can AI Model the Entire Universe?" The essay is built around the conjecture Demis Hassabis closed his Nobel Lecture with -- that any pattern found in nature can be efficiently modeled by a classical learning algorithm. I wanted to take that seriously. Rigorously. Personally. Because the question underneath it is one I couldn't shake: What will remain human and what will become mechanical about how we do physics, maths, and science -- once the dust finally settles? I started April somber. I'm releasing this in a different place not because I found certainty, but because I found the right questions to sit with. I hope it unsettles and excites you the way writing & recording it did for me. —— 00:00 - Can AI model the entire Universe? 00:45 - Demis Hassabis & his shocking conjecture 03:25 - Deepmind's founding thesis 04:45 - Microscope on most powerful machines to measure physics Deeper we plunge into existential waters... 07:35 - Zone I: Discrete States and Stable Patterns 09:05 - Zone II: Approximating the Continuous Universe 10:55 - Zone III: Invisible Universe 11:40 - Zone IV: Will AI make our most unhinged ideas testable? 12:33 - Zone V: Chaotic Systems 13:39 - Epilogue: Optimistic Ascent from the abyss 14:25 - Henri Poincaré on the importance of Intuition 15:10 - Einstein Test Benchmark for AGI 17:20 - Humans relentlessly pursue ideas even in war & disease: Karl Schwarzschild 19:36 - Singularity is Near?

Einstein wrote the Field Equations. Schwarzschild found a singularity at r = 0. For 50 years, it was dismissed as an artifact of perfect symmetry. Critics assumed that stars would never fully collapse. Roger Penrose showed that singularity was not just a failure of maths but a real physical object — a blackhole.
