Absolutely no one needs to be defending this defense after tonight. It’s completely embarrassing that Jack Leiter has to eat 5 ER and a loss in that gem of a start. • The Burger misplay had a .250 xBA. Easy double play and inning ender. • The Smith misplay had a .180 xBA. Also would have ended the inning. This isn’t JV baseball. It’s the major leagues. The offense didn’t improve enough this season for the defense to go from best in the league to middle of the pack. Both plays HAVE to be made to keep this game at a two-run deficit.

And should have a 2017 World Series ring if not for a trash can being the Astros MVP. Bottom line: #TexasRangers fans got a front-row seat to greatness.
