Solana can’t compete with onchain perp DEXs because it’s not built for it. Ethereum has Lighter & RISE, L2s purpose-built for this use case. it’ll always win because it’s the base layer that innovation is built on. the L1 doesn’t have to reinvent itself. new L2s do, and they all benefit Ethereum's network effects

Ethereum is probably in a supercycle, similar to what happened to Wall Street in 1971 ETH could recover its ETH/BTC ratio, 2021 highs, that would put ETH at around $21K. Robinhood didn’t want to be “alone on a private island” they think they’ll gain more users as an Ethereum L2 than an L1. if even Robinhood thinks that, nobody should build an L1. “We want to recreate the entire financial system onchain. We need everyone to be able to come to our island.” they chose Ethereum as the place to recreate the financial system because: → the most decentralized & secure → access to the deepest liquidity & users “If we really want the stock market onchain, we need to have this liquidity. It’s not going to be possible on a closed chain with like 20 different hoops before you can bridge.” Robinhood Chain is in private testnet, an Ethereum L2 built on the Arbitrum stack. they’ve already tokenized 1,000+ stocks.

"L2s aren't generating fees for the L1, the L1 doesn't accrue value." That's like saying, when Facebook launched mobile: "Facebook, you’re not charging money for mobile." The more people used Facebook, the more valuable it became as a platform for advertising. Network effects kicked in, and today Facebook dominates advertising. It makes sense to let the L2s grow and create a huge ecosystem. wouldn’t you like risk-free yield on BTC? it’s a must, Michael Saylor: “If I put $100B into BTC and I get 0% yield, that’s just as bad as having $100B in U.S. bonds that pay 0% yield. In both cases, they’re non-performing assets.” ETH is a better store of value. it has native yield. treasury companies & wall street realized that. more will. “There’s no way El Salvador is going to pay their expenses without selling their BTC if no one’s willing to give them yield.” BTC miners’ expenses are massive. ETH stakers’ expenses are minimal or inexistent. buy ETH, stake ETH, & compound

A number of professional investors skip right past BTC and go straight to ETH Gold is a niche asset. Maybe 15–20% of them own gold. A lot of people look at Bitcoin like, yeah it’s digital gold, I don’t own gold but I do own technologies. Ethereum fits a professional investor framework, so I think we’re going to see these flows continue. — Matt Hougan
