🇺🇸 Ambassador to 🇨🇦 Pete Hoekstra on the wildfire situation. 1⃣ The FIFA World Cup final may have to be postponed. Businesses are closing due to the smoke. There's an impact on the 🇺🇸 economy. 2⃣ There is a high level of frustration as this could have been addressed. 4 years in a row is too much. 3⃣ The 🇺🇸 wants to work on a plan to avoid a repeat. They are asking for 🇨🇦 officials to explain the complexity of the problem to state & federal legislatures. 🪓The tariff threat is being used to spark action. It remains to be seen if Carney will take this seriously.

I listened to the entire Chrystia Freeland interview about the USMCA situation so you didn't have to. You're welcome? It was pure emotional drivel. She didn't address the issues in any meaningful manner. 🤨Trump wants to punish 🇨🇦. 🙄 🇨🇦 dropped the (illegal) retaliations like the DST & got nothing. So, now we're not going to negotiate. 😠 People are very angry resulting in the alcohol bans which are wildly popular & there would be a huge backlash if they were dropped. 😡 Public sentiment is very, very angry. And Trump is punishing us. And public opinion is very, VERY angry. 🤡 People are so angry that the 🇺🇸 is seen as more of a threat than 🇨🇳. 🤣 🇨🇦 should fight back, has lots of leverage. (So, why wasn't it used over the last 18 months?) 🤪That this person rose to be our deputy head of state is horrifying & shows how low the bar has been set for our leaders.

CNN - 🇨🇦 has unfairly singled out autos, dairy & alcohol for unfair trade practices. "Unlike some of the tariffs last year that the courts invalided, correctly, this particular tariff is a legal tariff...it is true that 🇨🇦 is discriminating against 🇺🇸 products." On CNN. 😮Prediction is that Carney will back down.

On USMCA, there’s a reason that Professor Ian Lee of Carleton University doesn’t get much time on legacy media. He speaks more truth to power than they can handle. 1⃣ We are far more dependent on the 🇺🇸 than they are on us. 2⃣ If 🇨🇦 cannot maintain the current level of free trade in the negotiation, it will be catastrophic for our economy. 3⃣ The only meaningful way to diversify away from the 🇺🇸 is with greater energy exports but the “Laurentian consensus” has severely hindered this. 4⃣ If there’s any change to the level of access the 🇨🇦 auto sector has to the 🇺🇸, we will lose the industry.

A 🇨🇦 Heritage Minute is being filmed at CFB Wainwright, AB recreating a 2008 battle in Kandahar, Afghanistan in which Captain Jonathan Snyder (1 PPCLI) led his men & Afghan troops out of an ambush while on patrol. 🔥Some interesting stats on the forest fires across 🇨🇦. 🧑🚒My family is from NW Ontario where dealing with the fires & air quality has been a way of life for centuries. My grandfather told me stories of being press ganged into fighting blazes. There are species of pine trees whose seeds are only released when they burn. Perspective is important. 🔥 Fires per year have decreased over the last 50 years. Trusting that gov'ts can change the climate & that will fix fires is laughable (because they are so good at fixing other problems). Climate change isn't causing it anyways. 🌨️As a species, we adapt. My grandfather didn't have the HVAC system I do. Everyone in the GTA, calm down. It'll pass.

As expected, legacy media is in full gaslighting mode on the CUSMA announcement. Tom Muclair sings for his supper. 1⃣Carney's July 1 speech "calms Canadians." 🙄 2⃣Trump "came to his senses" & didn't blow up CUSMA touted as a victory. 3⃣We'll wait Trump out past the mid-terms, he'll then be weakened & it'll be smooth sailing. 4⃣Yes, there's investment instability but it goes both ways. Totally ignoring the trillions of real business investment happening in the 🇺🇸 because tariffs are avoided. 🇺🇸 Trade Rep Jamieson Greer TEARS APART the Liberal narrative that “detailed proposals” have been made to the 🇺🇸 during the USMCA talks. 1⃣ Proposals have been “promises to discuss issues” not to actually change anything. Talks have been on trade that is already happening & doesn’t move the needle. 2⃣ Rules of origin remains an issue. The 🇺🇸 wants to ensure 🇨🇦 content in exported products adheres to the agreement. 3⃣ On dairy, 🇨🇦 continues to violate the terms while giving preferential access to the EU. Banning products (alcohol) is also a violation. The 🇺🇸 has not banned any 🇨🇦 products. 4⃣ Auto manufacturing is moving to the 🇺🇸 regardless of the negotiations. 5⃣ Talks will continue but the 🇺🇸 wants outcomes. Defiance, retaliation, waiting things out has failed. A new approach is required. We need to get to the table. Perhaps our 🇲🇽 friends can help us.
