💣 Customs broker Lisa McEwan shares some truth bombs on who pays the tariffs & how the Canada government treats businesses. 1⃣ Trade made BEFORE the talks broke off still gets hit with the new tariffs. 2⃣ Most 🇨🇦 exporters pay the US tariff NOT the 🇺🇸 importers. In fact, they pay BOTH country’s tariffs! 3⃣ 🇨🇦 counter-tariffs are owed WITHIN 10 DAYS or else penalties & interest are applied. If not paid, the business could be seized. 4⃣ Most businesses can’t navigate the chaos & just stop importing.

🧑‍🏭 Hundreds of thousands of jobs are hanging in the balance due to the trade war. 0⃣ We have no clue what our government is doing. 🚫 No plan, no comms, no progress reports (Advisory Committee?), what tariff rates would be acceptable, nothing. Just a vague "good deal" promised. 🙈 The most important issue facing our country & we're in the dark. 🦗 🇨🇦 media isn't holding the Liberals to account. News items on small & medium sized business impacts have dried up. Deflection articles rule.
