✨🎼Legendary Soundtracks 🎼✨ Midnight Express (1978) - Alan Parker #MidnightExpress #AlanParker #BradDavis #GiorgioMoroder Inspired by the true story of Billy Hayes and loosely based on his biography, Midnight Express is a shocking prison drama that, for its expressive power, dramatic vigor, and thematic intensity, undoubtedly ranks among the pinnacles of the genre. Written by Oliver Stone, directed by Alan Parker, and boasting a stellar cast and Giorgio Moroder's magnificent Oscar-winning musical score, the film attracted international attention for its dramatic and raw story, as well as its harrowing style, which literally plunges the viewer into the protagonist's nightmare, making the whole experience hard to forget. Special mention goes to the "bigger-than-life" performance of lead actor Brad Davis, the talented and late American actor who died prematurely in 1999. In all fairness, its structure, a pro-Western, pro-thesis work, must also be acknowledged, completely opposed to the Turkish prison system. Turkey, of course, was not pleased and protested strongly upon the film's release, nearly causing a diplomatic incident. Billy Hayes himself admitted, many years later, that the film heavily fictionalized (and exaggerated) the events he described in his biography. The opening scene at the airport is memorable, with the oppressive pounding of Hayes/Davis's heartbeat acting as an emotional metronome to the unfolding events, expertly building a growing tension that grips the viewer.
