Here’s a look inside the missionary assignment room. This is where my fellow apostles and I come frequently to assign the thousands of missionaries that are applying to serve missions all over the world. This process is inspired, revelatory, and I love it with all my heart.

All who live or ever have lived who come unto Christ and live His gospel will feel joy beyond any earthly expression as we reunite, resurrected, with our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ and with our parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and ancestors.

I was deeply honored to receive an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Utah. During my senior year there, Jon Huntsman Sr. offered me a position at his company before I had graduated. After sincere prayer and thoughtful counsel with my wife, Melanie, I chose to accept. That decision meant I did not complete my degree at the time. To receive this recognition from my alma mater feels like a tender, full-circle blessing for which I am profoundly grateful. The counsel I shared with the graduating class applies to each of us: love your fellow man and look for the good in others. You will always be blessed in return by how you treat people with love. I am grateful that the Lord has guided my path and placed individuals along my way who have shaped my faith and testimony. I bear witness that He knows each of us personally. As we trust Him and strive to love others as He does, He will consecrate our efforts and lead us to become more than we could ever become on our own.

Nearly 2000 years ago, Palm Sunday marked the beginning of the last week of the mortal ministry of Jesus Christ. Scriptures tell us that the week began with throngs standing at the gates of the city to see “Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee” (Matthew 21:11). Though we do not stand at the gates of Jerusalem today with palms in our hands, the time will come when “all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, [will stand] before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands” (Revelation 7:9). #GreaterLove

Earlier this month, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a video showing people across the globe viewing a special #LightTheWorld digital Christmas display in outdoor venues. Many of you may have already seen this video. But what you probably haven’t seen is the full digital display—the actual video that people in places like England, Japan, and Australia saw on city streets. Today, I want to share what they saw with you. How grateful I am for this sacred time of year to focus on the love and light of Jesus Christ. It is a blessing to be able to share it with all of God’s children—our brothers and sisters. I testify that Jesus Christ was born in a manger, that angels declared His birth, that He is our Savior and Redeemer, and that He lives today.

I have seen miraculous things happen as an Apostle. For example, a couple of weeks ago, I was assigning missionaries when Brother and Sister Healy’s picture came up on my screen. I felt inspired to assign them as the first missionaries to the Republic of Seychelles. By divine design, just two weeks later, I was in Seychelles and set them apart as full-time missionaries. They are ready to launch forth the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ in this land. I am grateful for all missionaries who diligently serve as the Lord’s emissaries around the world.

In 2023, I met a group of young men from South Sudan and invited them to serve missions. A few days ago in Kenya, I reunited with them and was delighted to learn that many have wholeheartedly accepted that challenge. Ten are currently serving missions, and others are planning to serve. These young men are valiant examples of faith. They have complete trust in the Lord to accomplish what He would have them accomplish. They are serving missions, receiving an education, and faithfully serving in church callings—one even as the second counselor in his branch presidency. I am proud of them, and I know the Lord is especially proud of them. I am looking forward to the next reunion with these wonderful South Sudanese disciples of Jesus Christ.

I was honored to represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today at the @NBACares All-Star Day of Service. We had the great pleasure of welcoming NBA players, families, and executives to the Bishops Central Storehouse in Salt Lake City.

Each of us are a beloved spirit, son, or daughter of heavenly parents with a divine nature and destiny. The Family Proclamation is a call for us to live in mortality ever mindful of the divinity within us and the eternal future that lies before us. The principles are not out of step but perfectly in step with the ways of the Lord and His covenant path. No one knows you better or cares more deeply about you than He does. Turn to Him. Pour out your heart to Him. Trust Him and His promises.

Every missionary serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this Thanksgiving is a miracle. At a time when some of their peers may be focused on the next concert, football game, test, job, or a favorite meme or selfie, they have chosen to turn their lives over to God and trust He will make more of their next eighteen or twenty-four months than they can on their own. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, in His Church and gospel, and in our Father in Heaven’s eternal plan, brought them here. That is a miracle wrought by divine design.

Never forget: you are in the hands of the Lord. In my professional career and service in the Church, I know I have been guided by the Holy Ghost to where the Lord wants me to be. This applies to all of us. Heavenly Father loves each of you and wants to guide you on the right path.

We learn an important lesson from Joseph Smith’s experience in Liberty Jail: “Peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes” (Doctrine and Covenants 121:7–8).

During a recent visit, I shared a message with the missionaries at the Kinshasa Missionary Training Center that I want to share with our missionaries across the globe: Thank you for volunteering to be a missionary of the Lord Jesus Christ. What a great accomplishment for each one of you to go out during this season of your life to represent the Lord Jesus Christ. We love you.
