Yesterday, online fashion retailer Shein appeared before the business and trade committee. Their inability to answer the simplest questions about where their products come from was shocking. Having spent my career in the fashion industry before coming into parliament to me, it’s unfathomable how you would not be aware if any of your clothes coming out of china contain cotton.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy as a young adult. I’ve been seizure-free for several years, but I often think about the journey it has taken to get to this place and many that are at the beginning of that journey now. Today is Purple Day for Epilepsy Society , and I’m wearing my purple ribbon. Epilepsy affects many, but the wider effects are not commonly understood. So there’s more we can do to spread awareness and stand up to seizures. 💜

Nobody can take away the pain of losing a baby but we can make sure that in that pain, families are met with compassion, dignity and privacy. That begins with a bereavement suite in every newly-built maternity ward and I was proud to introduce my bill today.
