In my maiden speech, I spoke about the challenges the my generation have faced. This came up time and time again in the campaign. Residents spoke to me about concerns they have for the future of their children and grandchildren. I can relate; I’ve been there, and it’s why I will fight for a better future for our young people.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy as a young adult. I’ve been seizure-free for several years, but I often think about the journey it has taken to get to this place and many that are at the beginning of that journey now. Today is Purple Day for Epilepsy Society , and I’m wearing my purple ribbon. Epilepsy affects many, but the wider effects are not commonly understood. So there’s more we can do to spread awareness and stand up to seizures. 💜
