🏉 | #RugbyScoop My view on the scrum debate between the Springboks & All Blacks There’s been plenty of chatter around the scrums - Angus Gardner was pretty clear with his communication: this was the second reset on the second scrum. On this particular scrum, Lomax gets the better of Gerhard Steenekamp & Gus let’s play continue, which I don’t have an issue with. Chances of getting defending team being penalised in their own 22 are potentially 0 😂 But the bigger talking point for me is the legality of the scrum. Scrummaging is one of the most technical areas of rugby, and ultimately, safety and stability are the priorities. You only really achieve that when both front rows are engaging and pushing square and straight, within the laws. And this is where I think we need to be honest: just because nobody has previously penalised or pointed out that the Boks may not have been pushing square and straight, it doesn’t automatically mean they’ve been doing it correctly all along. When you come up against a team that can genuinely match you pound-for-pound, they will test you. They’ll look at your technique, identify what you’re doing, and challenge anything they believe isn’t legal. And when both teams are scrummaging legally, you can actually see the difference stability, balance and a genuine contest. For me, Angus Gardner did a fantastic job managing this area of the game. He communicated clearly, identified the resets and managed the contest without unnecessarily dominating the game. Interestingly, he could have penalised the Boks on the clip below, but chose to play on. I have absolutely no issue with that decision. #RugbyScoop #Springboks #AllBlacks #Rugby #Scrum #RugbyLaws

#RugbyScoop | Funny that some Springbok fans and SA journos say they don’t understand why Dave Rennie keeps raising the issue of URC teams slowing down the pace of the game. Here’s one example, I won’t even touch on the 20 hours it takes for them to form a Line Out. Look at Sharks Hooker: 😂

With referees now selected, it will be interesting to see how they manage these sort of things from Springbok. Watch Nortje - first he starts limping, signs of a leg injury. Then when he walks off, he is going off for Head Injury. Argentina physio is trying to point this to the ref. Springboks have mastered this sort of thing the last two years. Watch the Wellington test on the changes made in the first half.

#RugbyScoop | I can certainly debunk Jaco and Rassie’s theory around “slowing down the game.” There’s evidence that the Sharks clearly took their sweet time to form the lineout. This was Renz’s reference. Now Rassie must lie to the public about official languages.😂😂😂 This Line Out takes almost a minute

#RugbyScoop | Here’s why I think this is an incorrect call: The tackle is complete. Gelant has two options: (by the way he is short off the goal line) - he’s suppose to place the ball and the tackler must release him (complete tackle scenario) - Gelant done not release the ball nor is he in a good position to reach out and score a try - look at his body position (also, you not allowed to have an extra roll forward once a tackle is complete) Morby - can be pinged on playing the Stormers 15 on the ground but first infringement is by ball carrier. You have to break it down step by step. First it’s ball carrier and tackler before everything else.

#RugbyScoop | Interesting numbers in the last 10 minutes of the #Ireland vs #Allblacks ▶️ Ireland had to make 51 tackles ▶️ Allblacks only made 11 tackles This is going to test a lot of teams and their engines for full 80 minutes. Allblacks post contact metres is impressive
