Brutal Attack on Woman in Front of Police A woman reportedly filed a complaint with the consumer rights authorities over products purchased from a shop - only to be brutally attacked in front of police officers. If citizens cannot even seek justice without fear of violence, where is the rule of law? 🇧🇩 This is the reality being seen under BNP rule. #Bangladesh #BangladeshCrisis

The march of light will continue. ✊ The Awami League is a political party, and participating in peaceful political activity is a democratic right. Suppressing political rallies and silencing political voices undermines that right. The people of Bangladesh are freedom-loving. Wherever democratic rights are threatened, the people will continue to raise their voices. Joy Bangla. #Bangladesh #AwamiLeague #HumanRights

In Dhaka, the ruling authorities have effectively issued a decree against the leaders and activists of the #AwamiLeague. Even so, were they able to stop the tide of leaders, activists, and ordinary people in #Gulshan, #Dhaka? Today, thousands of people from Dhaka North Metropolitan area joined the Joy Bangla procession, showing a red card to this oppression and misrule. The younger generation of leaders has always been at the forefront of this struggle to restore #democracy. I congratulate these soldiers who stand for Bangladesh. Their courage and unity inspire us to move forward. Joy Bangla! #Bangladesh

They demolished #Dhanmondi32 because they could not destroy Bangabandhu’s ideals. But can a man who, even half a century after his death, remains at the heart of the respect, love and emotion of millions truly be erased with bulldozers? Even today, ordinary people want to remember #Bangabandhu by bringing flowers. And that is precisely why the ruins have to be guarded and people’s paths have to be blocked. The greatest truth of history is this: no force can erase a person whom the people have placed in their hearts. Loving Bangabandhu does not require any political identity. He is an inseparable part of the history of Bangladesh. Deepest respect to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Salute to the millions of courageous hearts who continue to cherish Bangabandhu. #Bangladesh #NationalMourningDay #15August #SheikhMujiburRahman

Three Dates. Five Decades. One Unfinished Struggle. 15 August 1975. 21 August 2004. 5 August 2024. Three defining moments separated by decades - but linked by Bangladesh’s continuing struggle over democracy, pluralism, secular identity and the legacy of 1971. From the assassination of Bangabandhu to the 21 August grenade attack and the upheaval of 5 August 2024, history continues to shape Bangladesh’s political reality. The dates have changed. The struggle remains. #Bangaldesh #21August #15August #5August

The last few days have been difficult for the people of #Bangladesh. I would like to start by mourning the loss of all innocent lives. PM #SheikhHasina's Govt is sincere in investigating all incidents of death, and has already formed a judicial commission, headed by a High Court judge, to investigate such incidents. On the quota issue, the Bangladesh Awami League Govt and the #QuotaProtestors had almost identical positions to begin with. In 2018, PM #SheikhHasina abolished all quotas through a declaration. It was the High Court which cancelled the declaration. The Govt then appealed against the HC decision in the Appellate Division, and in the quickest possible time, got the HC ruling overturned. For days, the protests continued without any incident, under full cooperation of the govt. How did such a peaceful movement turn into a campaign of arson, vandalism, violence, and looting? Because, as usual, the #BNP-#JamaatEIslami clique used an essentially non-political and non-violent movement to wage a violent movement of their own. Sensing the involvement of the vested quarter, the protestors themselves issued several statements disowning the violence and confirming that a third party is behind these acts with no relations to the protestors whatsoever. In the last few days, these cowards (using the protests as a cover) carried out widespread violence terrorizing the people. They targeted law enforcement officials, journalists, public and pvt. transport and properties, important govt establishments, and KPIs. There has also been widespread looting of public and private properties, wherever such opportunities arose. A jail was attacked, freeing all prisoners, and its arms looted. It was only due to these unprecedented levels of violence that the govt took the drastic decision of deploying armed forces and imposing curfew on movement (temporarily only). This is because the govt is under a positive duty to prevent any further violence, safeguard public and private properties, and uphold the national security of the country.

How BNP unleashed state machinery against citizens to erase memories of Pakistan Army sponsored 1971 genocide Two people, both unarmed, were subjected to inhumane torture by unruly thugs as they went to place floral tribute at the Dhanmondi 32 residence where country’s founding father and most of his family members are murdered on August 15, 1975. Instead of offering protection cops arbitrarily detained them and took those injured victims to police station while offered a free reign for these attackers. By ensuring state patronage for Jaamat e Islami, that aided Pakistani occupational forces in 1971 to carry out genocide, in the motorious plot to undermine independence leaders, BNP has once again stood exposed for embracing murderous Pakistani army. #Bangladesh #15August #NationalMourningDay

Flanked by masked and armed body guards, styled after #IS, another militant leader with his face covered, can be seen offering sermons to indoctrinate audience into the path of intolerance and #extremism. Such open brandishing of fire arms and impunity for addressing crowds had been prevented by law enforcement under Awami League regime but under #Yunus led regime these intolerant elements are recruiting people with total immunity, an alarming outcome of so called reform agenda. #Bangladesh

Emboldened with impunity under reform, BNP leaders take oath publicly to exterminate every single citizen affiliated with Awami League In broad day light, hundreds of BNP leaders, led by Jamal Uddin, president of Joggochola Union, Manikchari Upazila, in hill tracks area, took a veiled oath to accomplish pogrom --hunt down and kill citizens affiliated with Awami League—. The oath taking is driven by single motto-- wipe out the oldest party. On October 10, around 4:00 p.m., this group of BNP leaders pledged to inflict all out measures to exterminate Awami League leaders and activists. BNP has been a strong supporter of Dr Yunus backed unelected regime and this reform scheme contains denial of ongoing acts of terror including killing, assault, looting, vandalism, arson and extortion inflicted on tens of thousands of families from Awami League across the country perpetrated by BNP since August 5. #Bangladesh

August 15, 1975, wasn’t just an assassination — it was an attempt to erase the very soul of Bangladesh that connects every freedom-loving citizen of our nation. The same forces that killed #Bangabandhu still wage war through lies & violence. To defend the nation, we must protect and preserve the ideals of the Father of our country. #Bangabandhu #August15 #Bangladesh

Video shows how mob violence getting mainstreamed on educational campuses - Target is to deny academic rights of students affiliated with Awami League Almost after two months after August 5, the culture of mob violence has been systematically and in a coordinated manner, practiced on universities, the center of higher education where culture of tolerance and dissent would have been practiced. On October 19, Abdul Aleem, a student of Bangla Department, in Islamic University, went to the university to take part on an examination. But a selected group of activists used the pretext of mob and barred him from attending the exam, only because of his political belief. Though not proven guilty of any crime, the student was later handed over to police station with presence of university authorities, a sign of pandering to mob violence. Earlier, at a university campus, a student affiliated with Awami League has been beaten to death by political activists under cover of mob in presence of police and university authorities. #MobViolence #HumanRights #Bangladesh #BangladeshCrisis
