A Mumbai driver demanded ₹500 for a 2-km ride. A Mexican tourist entered ₹5,000 on PhonePe and showed it to the driver. The driver immediately agreed. Then came the twist. What is driving Gen Z towards such blatant erosion of public decorum? In Vashi Sector 28, Mumbai, a public park was reportedly being used for indecorous displays of affection. When a citizen objected and documented the incident, they allegedly faced harassment and were followed. Hindi is not India’s national language. When you come to Bengaluru, you find signboards and route maps in English so that you can navigate and communicate easily. When you visit another state, is it really reasonable to expect people to conduct their affairs in your language? Respect the local language or at least learn English, which serves as a common link language. When Kannadigas visit your states, do we demand that everyone speak Kannada? Respect works both ways.
