A privilege to be invited to observe Cheshire Police this morning in a well-executed cross-agency raid on vape shops in Runcorn. I witnessed Trading Standards, HMRC and Immigration working in partnership with Cheshire Police to keep our streets safe and legal. Cheshire Police operate a zero-tolerance policy on illegal trading activity. I was proud to be seen out with them today.

This afternoon I spoke in the Second Reading of the Northern Ireland Troubles Bill. This subject has been close to my heart since I entered Parliament. I believe profoundly that our country must protect our servicemen and women. As a group of Generals warned recently, soldiers could be expected to face not only the enemy before them but the lawyer behind them. This is a disgrace and must never be allowed to happen.
