Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif Ali Khan and the erstwhile Nawab of Pataudi, was recently seen crying uncontrollably at the Golden Temple. She may have access to wealth, fame and privileges that millions can only dream of. Yet, here she was, visibly overwhelmed at one of Sikhism’s holiest shrines, seemingly seeking solace or praying for something. Perhaps this is a reminder for Sara, and nepo kids in general, to pause and reflect on all that life has already given them. While it is natural to pray for what we desire, perhaps we should also learn to express gratitude for what we have. Millions of people lead far more difficult lives, with fewer opportunities and resources, yet find reasons to smile and remain content. Sometimes, the greatest prayer is not asking God for more, but thanking Him for what we already have.

This was Nana Patekar, just a few weeks before his unfortunate demise. He was at the gym, energetically doing pull-ups, seemingly as fit and driven as ever, deeply committed to his health and fitness. And yet, life had other plans. Why do Bollywood actors like Shahid Kapoor, who can afford a Mercedes-Maybach, not own a luxury yacht to ferry themselves from Versova to Madh Island? We’ve seen celebrities splurge on multiple luxury cars, apartments worth crores in Mumbai, watches costing crores, and lifestyles most people can only dream of. Yet, when it comes to travelling to Madh Island, they seem perfectly comfortable relying on public ferries alongside ordinary commuters. Nothing wrong with using public transport, of course. But when you can afford almost every luxury imaginable, why not invest in a private yacht for convenience and exclusivity? Is it a question of practicality, or is there a limit to how much luxury even the ultra-rich are willing to pay for? Make it make sense.
