Pt 6. I just put together this playlist: the story parts in order with no repeats, so the parts that got rolled together with updates are in there but not the individual parts because I could see it was getting confusing; mostly because I never planned for this to get as big as it did, but now there is one easy place to figure out how to watch them all in order which I'll keep updated as things go along. Pt. 7 Don't feel like typing that much this time lmao, a little BTS at the end, and it was harder than it looks. There is one thing I wanted to mention though, I fully support reaction style videos and anything that is actually transformative. I do not support straight up reuploads (who tf does lol). I saw some post awhile ago some guy was making some malfoid anime and said he didn't want to do it anymore, I don't remember what his specific reasoning was but I remember it being like cost, but he didn't want to accept money either through some patreon or something. All of that makes sense to me, putting aside the legality of all of it considering we don't own the IP, there is going to be a feeling of obligation to people who donate you money that might go against what you want to do, the feeling of influence isn't worth the money when you already have a real job. That isn't my main point though; I saw people quoting it and essentially saying how he should teach someone to 'pass the torch' so to speak. As someone who had spent time essentially teaching (I've written a bunch of articles on civitai explaining how I do things) as well as actually teaching individuals because I'm friends with them or I had to in order for some people that should know better that I was on a project with, teaching someone how to do things like this is significantly more work than just doing it. It seems like people don't understand this, so I just wanted to say it. Pt. 5 I want to explain a few things and my thinking behind them, because there are character traits I've made up in my head that I just don't have a good way to show on screen. There are no Quidditch matches this year due to the Triwizard Tournament. Malfoy and Harry are nothing alike but for one thing: they both love Quidditch, and that's what they turn to in order to get away. So Malfoy is holding it together despite her inner turmoil, and she just needs to get away: Pansy's incorrect interpretation of everything and constant chattering are driving her crazy, and she's also annoyed at what she interprets as Hermione's pity. She can't even use Quidditch as an escape, because now it's intrinsically tied to the fact that Harry is a better Seeker and beats her, so she's unable to escape the thought of him even in this refuge. One of the things I thought was really missing was that I didn't see any reason for Harry to go and apologize to Malfoy if nothing else happened in between him shouting at her and the ball. I don't think randomly realizing he's in love with her when he sees her with some Durmstrang guy is sufficient. So I think what really needed to happen was that he needed to understand that he hurt her. He shouted at her because he thought she was mocking him, which she kind of was. This is my interpretation of Malfoy that I had to make this work with: pride is the thing that gets in the way of what she wants. She's more afraid of her vulnerability being exposed than she is of losing what she wants. So her being shouted at when she got carried away and started stating what she really wanted hurt deeper than if she'd just been shouted at without that context. So how does Harry learn that he's truly hurt Malfoy without it being even more contrived than I've made it? Hermione could nag him, but he's convinced that Malfoy was just mocking him. Hermione doesn't have the true insight, so she can't reason it into him; she just thinks what he did was wrong. Him being humiliated when he was begrudgingly attempting to apologize, while being pushed to do so by a friend, is what I think makes him want to escape as well. Both of them have Quidditch as an escape, and both have good reason to think they can be alone there. There was no way to show this on screen other than the contrast between how Malfoy is when she's alone and how she chooses to present herself in front of other people. It would certainly be Harry's first time seeing her vulnerable, and for her, I think that would be her worst nightmare. Anyways, all of this was to set that up. I just really needed a reason for Harry to have the motivation to apologize, because I felt like that was missing. I know the ending for the Yule Ball now, but my next step is to turn all of these into one video, clean up some of the stuff I want to, maybe add some more scenes to give more context, and begin some of the anime adaptations, because I know some people have been really patient for those. I need time to figure out some meaningful beats before the ending regardless, and I'll be thinking about that while I attend to turning this into a full video and the anime adaptations. Hopefully I figure out the shape of it soon and we can continue on to the next part, which will have a different title. Thanks for watching and thanks for reading. Pt. 3 First of all, German subtitles are now on all the Malfoid videos. Spanish available on here for all other captions: English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Portuguese (Brazil), Polish, French, German This started with just 2 videos when I thought this was a trend that would be over in a few days, so I tried to make it look like the movies with the actors and all that, or plausibly so, framed from behind. It was fine for a short video but it causes all kinds of problems with what this has become. I'm able to run a model on my own computer to get around all the moderation issues, but the generation times take much longer and the quality is not as good, so I had to essentially recast harry and hermione. In order to make it less jarring, I redid all the recent scenes and did this "previously on malfoid" sequence here. When I finish up and put the whole thing together, it will all be recast. I've also been hearing of people getting their channels taken down, so recasting these characters also provides me an additional layer of protection against C&D and takedowns as well. This does make production much easier and allows me to flesh out these characters a lot more, which I think is necessary with the direction this has gone. I'm probably not setting the right expectation when I say that I don't plan on doing daily uploads, but I can't promise daily uploads I appreciate all the offers for financial support, I've stated before why it's not necessary, but I think I realized another reason is that I would hate for someone to pay and me to take a direction they hate. I haven't listed a writer for this part because while the first part was based on a comic by I just felt like jumping to the next part, it didn't make sense without more stuff happening first. I think that Harry wouldn't apologize to her unless he knew he hurt her and with how things played out in the first part, he doesn't necessarily know that. I felt like for it to make sense he would have to know he did. I also see Malfoid as someone who's pride gets in the way of her admitting what she wants as the primary conflict. That doesn't really align with a lot of the popular fan fictions and comics I've seen people referencing so some people might be disappointed with the direction I take things. For those that don't like the direction I'm going, that's fine, and from what I can tell, it seems like most of the other Malfoid content on here and youtube will scratch your itch. I've been struggling a lot with writing for my own original stuff, and I wanted to use Malfoid to improve my own writing stuff, so everything in this part has been my own writing. It seems that a lot of people do like it, but I've seen some people not really like it. I guess it would feel bad if some of those people had donated and ended up hating it, and also I think I want to feel free to do what I want creatively, which has always been important to me. I've been posting videos on here for quite some time to very little views and it hasn't bothered me; I only make things that I want to make and I want to continue that. Thanks for reading. I'll continue trying to preserve the likeness of major characters that have been shown so far, it does make production more complicated but I know it can be immersion breaking without it. Framing them to be less visible, like I have been, is both a necessity in order to not get moderated and also mostly in line with my preferences. It's possible to use other options to not have these issues, but this is the balance between quality and not having to go out of pocket on my end.
