WATCH: In my lifetime, I have never seen the United States of America in a more just war. Our purpose is to defend freedom and fight for democracy, and that's why we’re supporting Ukraine every step of the way as they defend their country & their way of life.

The Biden administration is breaking its word to the American public by ignoring the text of the #InflationReductionAct to pursue its radical climate agenda. Let me be clear: if this continues, I'll do everything in my power to stop them — including voting to repeal the IRA.

WATCH: In the last presidential election, all we heard about was the seven battleground states, because 43 had been predetermined. All we're hearing about now is 35 or 40 contested House seats, because the other 400 have been predetermined. The parties have gone completely crazy. It’s all about power to them, and they’ve lost sight of the purpose of being in elected public office — serving the people they represent. WATCH: The United States of America is the superpower of the world because of the filibuster — not in spite of it. It makes it harder to pass legislation, and it makes it even harder to get rid of legislation. That’s because it makes both sides work together, and it gives the minority a voice in the legislative process. To my friends in the Senate — it’s time to stand up and pledge your support for the Senate as our Founding Fathers intended it to be. If we lose the filibuster, we lose the soul of the Senate, and we risk losing our status as the standard-bearer for democracies around the world. Chris Stirewalt NewsNation

Voting “no” is the easiest vote you can take in Washington because you don’t have to go home and explain it. Our political system rewards obstruction over progress — and voting “no” on everything is politically a safe choice. One of the things I loved most about being a U.S. Senator was working across with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find common ground and pass legislation that made our laws better than what they were before. But today, voting “yes” is seen as giving a win to the other side — a betrayal of your political party. There’s hardly a middle in Washington anymore because the parties force everyone to pick a side. When I voted on a bill, I didn’t care what person or party introduced the bill — I cared about whether or not it would help West Virginians. We need a political system that rewards putting America first and doing the bipartisan work that’s required to solve the problems facing our nation. #TribFest25

In 2024, I joined the majority of voters in America and registered as an independent. I had always been an independent. Despite the "D" I had by my name, West Virginians knew I would always vote in the best interests of my state, not a political party. More and more people feel like neither of the two major political parties are in tune with the issues that everyday Americans are facing. The parties continue to reward bad behavior and lead from the extremes — even though Americans are asking for sensible leadership. I'm proud of the work that Americans Together is doing to identify the ways the two parties are taking choices away from voters — and how we can take power back. WATCH: When I first ran for public office in 1982, I learned a lesson that shaped the rest of my career. Someone I thought was a supporter double-crossed me. The next morning, my dad looked at me and said: “If you don’t want to serve that person, go down to the courthouse and pay his taxes.” That advice has stayed with me ever since. Public service means serving everyone, whether they voted for you or against you. As a U.S. Senator, I worked to deliver the same care and attention to all West Virginians, regardless of politics. Now, more than ever, we need leaders who understand that public office is a position of trust, not a perk - a privilege to serve people, not yourself. I share more about this conversation with my dad, and how it shaped my approach to leadership, in my new book Dead Center: In Defense of Common Sense. WATCH: Every Senator has the same power. When I was caught in the middle of the 50/50 Senate during the 117th Congress, any Senator could have used their vote to advocate for their state’s priorities. My state of West Virginia expected that, and that’s why I used my vote to do my job and represent my constituents — not the interests of any political party or the White House. You should own your health care and get rewarded for having a healthy lifestyle. Republicans' proposal to fund Americans' health savings accounts would give people the opportunity to shop around for health care on their terms, which would create competition in the healthcare sector and drive down costs for consumers. It's like a 401 (k) for your health care. It's a common sense idea that could help Americans save money and live healthier lives.

WATCH: The other side is not your enemy. The two-party system profits off of dividing us and making us hate anyone that doesn’t think like us. We are the United States, not the divided states, and a change in the toxic political atmosphere has to start with citizen participation. Our leaders aren’t going to change unless people demand it. How would I end the government shutdown? I'd put both sides in a room together and make them come to a bipartisan agreement to reopen the government. It sounds too simple to be true. But the two parties are all about politics — not solutions. For three weeks and counting, our leaders have demonstrated that they'd rather harm hardworking Americans than do their jobs and discuss a pathway forward. Americans are looking for leadership right now — and they're not finding it in Washington. Visit to see firsthand why our political system is broken — and what we can do to fix it. Americans Together

WATCH: Bringing people together is what I've always known throughout my life in public service. There is so much more that united us than divides us. In my 14 years in the Senate, we have done a lot of good by working across party lines to deliver results for the American people.

Section 230 is a relic of the early internet. Signed into law in 1996, when “logging on” meant a dial-up connection and social media didn’t exist. It helped the internet grow. But today, it’s helping tear our society apart. In the real world, speech has limits. You can’t threaten violence or spread harm without consequences and you shouldn’t be able to do it online either. Over the past 30 years, the internet has gone from a luxury to a necessity, and social media has turned from an experiment into a massive business. These companies shouldn’t enjoy blanket immunity while their platforms spread threats, violence, and hate. It’s time for Congress to update Section 230 and hold social media companies accountable for keeping dangerous content off their platforms, just like we expect responsibility and accountability everywhere else.

WATCH: America’s health care system is broken - and we’ve known it for a long time. But shutting down the government doesn’t fix a thing. It only makes life harder for the very people we’re supposed to serve. It’s time for both sides to sit down, reopen the government, and work toward a commonsense compromise that ensures every American has access to quality, affordable health care. #GovernmentShutdown #Healthcare #Bipartisanship #CommonSense Michael Smerconish
