Dear President Museveni, Your recent speech, calling homosexuality an “abomination” and saying “you can’t change your anus into a vagina,” was hurtful and dangerous. As a Ugandan gay man and LGBTIQ rights activist, I ask you to see us as people, your citizens deserving of respect and dignity. Your words fuel discrimination and violence against us. We’re not asking for special treatment, just the right to live as who we are. Please lead with compassion, not hate. Sincerely, A Ugandan Gay Man
