I am offended by Trump. But I’m even more offended by the Christians who support him. He just called an entire group of people garbage. And that is an insult to God. Every person from Somalia is a precious child of God, made in the image of God. God does not make trash. No human being is garbage. Rebuke it - in the name of Jesus.

Today, I went to court to face the consequences of our arrest on Good Friday. Over 20 of us were arrested. In the words of the Judge: “The victim” failed to show up in court. The somber irony of calling the world’s largest weapons contractor a “victim”was not lost… especially when our “crime” was creating a memorial to honor the victims of war that blocked the entrance of Lockheed Martin. All charges were dismissed. Would we do it again? Of course, we are already planning the next protest. As long as they continue to kill… we will continue to nonviolently get in the way.

This is Donald Trump joking and laughing about alligators killing people at “Alligator Alcatraz” in Florida. No Christian who takes Jesus seriously can defend this. It is evil. It is sick. It is diabolical. Every human being is made in the image of God.

I am troubled by Trump. But I’m even more troubled by the Christians who defend him. Every time I hear Franklin Graham support Trump, I think of the words of his dad: “I don’t want to see religious bigotry in any form… It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it.” – Billy Graham Follow Jesus. Not Trump.

“Quiet, quiet, Piggy.” -Donald Trump I am continually appalled by Trump. But I’m even more appalled by the Christians who keep supporting him. “Christian” means “Christ-like.” Right now, every pastor and parent should be saying, “Act like Jesus not like Trump.” Be kind. Show respect. Don’t insult people. Stand up to bullies. Defend the vulnerable. Have compassion. Love everyone. Follow Jesus. Not Trump.

In Philadelphia there are more vacant, abandoned houses than there are people in need of housing. But there are thousands of people waiting for affordable housing, on a waiting list that can take years. One of my neighbors waited over 10 years… It doesn’t make sense. So this is what we’re doing about it. Please consider supporting our work:

I am troubled by Trump, but I am even more troubled by the people who claim to be Christians that defend him… Franklin Graham Sean Feucht Dr. Robert Jeffress Charlie Kirk Trump is vulgar and mean. He has made a vocation out of the seven deadly sins, and a mockery of the fruits of the Spirit. Trump needs Jesus. And we need a new President. We shouldn’t allow our middle school kids to act like this… let alone someone aspiring to be President. You cannot follow Jesus and Trump. Choose Jesus.

The overt racism and bigotry of this President is appalling. But I find it even more appalling that there are still some Christians who defend him. You cannot love Jesus without loving all of God’s children. The Bible doesn’t say “God so loved America” but that “God so loved the world.” The whole world. Calling entire groups of people sh*tholes — and calling human beings made in the image of God “trash”, “garbage”, and “animals” is an insult to God. Follow Jesus not Trump.

I am troubled by Trump. But I’m even more troubled by the Christians who support him. This is white supremacy… full stop. Trump is an opportunist… exploiting the fears and insecurities of white people. He stokes the deepest fears of scarcity, of being replaced, of losing power. And he unleashes Americas worst principalities and powers. This is racism on full display. But the Gospel of Jesus is about love and compassion. It’s about the promise that perfect love casteth out fear. The Gospel is about advocating for widows and orphans and having compassion for those Christ called “the least of these.” In fact, Jesus even says that when we welcome the stranger - the immigrant, the refugee, the homeless — we are welcoming HIM. Follow Jesus. Not Trump.

I don’t think we have to choose between cheap groceries and Palestinian lives. But even if I did, I would choose Palestinian lives. I can’t imagine the pressure on Kamala Harris right now. So much is at stake. But this is more than a misstep. It’s more than a bad answer to a good question. It reveals a failed strategy of the DNC that could cost them the election. For over a year, I’ve heard Democrats discredit concerns about Gaza by saying people vote on domestic issues not foreign policy. But times are different - Americans are watching women and children slaughtered daily by Israel, with bombs made in the USA. And we are sick of it. Recent studies show that 80% of progressive and independent voters want an arms embargo on Israel. If the DNC does not change direction on Israel it could cost them the election. Moreover, there is something more important than winning an election - and that is standing up for life and doing what is right. Palestinian lives matter - more than cheap eggs. Palestinian lives not only matter - they are precious, made in the image of God. And it is time we start acting like it. Arms embargo now. Let Gaza live.

***BREAKING NEWS*** Sean Hannity renounces Catholicism in order to follow Trump. “As of today, I no longer consider myself a Catholic.” Some folks say they are Christians but actually admire Trump more than Jesus. Jesus said that we cannot serve two masters… and today it is clear — we have to choose. We cannot follow Jesus and Trump. Choose Jesus.

Christians — please do get out and vote. And as we vote, let us vote with love in our hearts, and the Sermon on the Mount in our minds, and the Beatitudes on our lips. Voting is not the only way we put feet on our prayers, but it is one way. Voting is a way of showing solidarity with the most vulnerable. Voting is a way of standing against the principalities and powers that are crushing people’s lives. Let us vote against fear and hatred and xenophobia and arrogance and inequality and racism and militarism and genocide. This November - let us vote for love. And compassion. And justice. Let’s vote for the poor and homeless. For refugees & asylum-seekers. For the widows and orphans, and all those who Christ called “the least of these.” Vote. For. Love.

I know there is a lot going on in the world. Sometimes I just need to focus on a few concrete things we can do locally to make a difference. And one of those is turning abandoned houses into homes for families who need one. We have 3 houses here in Philly that are ready to renovate… and we’re trying to raise $105,000 to make it happen. Let’s do this!!!

Unimaginable violence. Hundreds of bombs are being dropped on Tehran, which is more densely populated than New York City. These are the words of Pete Hegseth, who claims to be a Christian: “Death and destruction from the sky, all day long." No genuine follower of Christ can defend this horror. Christ is the Prince of Peace… and commanded us all to LOVE our enemies. I keep thinking of these words of Dr. King as he saw the atrocities in Vietnam being done in the name of “liberation” — "They must see Americans as strange liberators...” -Martin Luther King

“We are saving Christianity. We are saving God.” -Eric Trump It takes a certain type of diabolical narcissism to believe that we can save God rather than that God is saving us. No matter where you land politically, we must name Christian Nationalism as a theological heresy. Rather than Jesus being the Savior of the world, political leaders claim to be the saviors of the world, of humanity, and civilization. And America replaces Jesus as God’s central messianic force at work in the world. Beware of anyone who says that they are saving God or even saving the world. There is only one Savior - and it is not Donald Trump. Rebuke it… in the name of Jesus.

I don’t usually post clips from haters and I won’t make a habit of it… But this one is worth flagging because it shows in a very clear way how Christian Nationalists distort the Christian faith to justify things that directly contradict the very heart of the Gospel. That’s also what Hitler did… twist the cross to turn it into a swastika. Nick Fuentes is an unapologetic white supremacist and neo-nazi… but what every Christian should pay attention to is how he uses the Christian faith to camouflage his bigotry. He is literally calling for the execution of non-Christians… in the name of Christ. He is only 25 years old, and has millions of followers. He’s not just a random dude with a podcast. This is the guy who had a private meeting with Trump and Kanye at Mar-a-Lago. This is a heresy of the worst kind. And bad theology gets people killed. Christian Nationalism is a cult. And every genuine Christian should denounce it.

He literally says we are “killing all the right people” and celebrates that we have “run out of bombs.” All the while pretending to be Christian. There is no version of Christianity that rejoices in death and glorifies violence, even the death of an enemy whom Christ has called us to love. They love Trump more than Jesus. Rebuke it. Rebuke any version of “Christianity” that celebrates killing and wealth. Rebuke it in the name of Jesus - the Prince of Peace who blesses the poor and the peacemakers… not the millionaires and the warmongers.

I am troubled by Trump. But I’m even more troubled by the Christians who support him. This is literally the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus — Trump coldly talking about homeless folks outside his gates, as he leaves for Scotland to dedicate a golf course. Love, compassion, and concern for the vulnerable is at the very heart of the Gospel. Follow Jesus. Not Trump. Stand with the poor. Stand with the homeless. Stand with the widows and orphans. Stand with refugees and asylum seekers. “If anyone has material possessions and sees someone in need but has no compassion on them, how can the love of God be in that person?” -1 John 3:17
