Mark Carney says Canada may need to limit free speech to tackle racism and Islamophobia. That’s a big step. Hate is real, and it can be ugly. But once minority governments start deciding what we can and can’t say, that line keeps moving. This is not Democracy, this is scary.

“Economists are saying these numbers are so small they could be revised away later. Aren’t you getting a little ahead of yourself by calling it a recession?” Reporter “Before I answer, who are you with? Because some outlets seem more interested in protecting the government than reporting the facts.” Pierre Poilievre No, you can't make this up.

Canadian PM Mark Carney says he’ll ‘act’ against hate online. Translation: get ready for censorship. When politicians say they’ll protect you from ‘harm,’ what they really mean is they’ll decide what truth you’re allowed to see. How long before he bans X in Canada?

The Liberals may hold power, but let’s not forget they never secured a majority mandate from Canadians. Nobody voted for this "globalist" shift or the surrender of our sovereignty to unelected entities. If a "New World Order" agenda were actually on the ballot, Canadians would’ve rejected it in a heartbeat.

Shaking my head at this as a gay man. Pride matters, but festivals warn they might scale back without federal funding due to rising costs. Taxpayers shouldn't bear this burden. Many groups face similar pressures and still fundraise and adapt. Pride should be no different. Community support and accountability are essential.

Private capital isn’t avoiding pipelines because the business case vanished. It’s avoiding Canada because governments turned approvals into a political minefield. When investors can spend billions elsewhere with fewer delays, lawsuits, and moving goalposts, they will. Then Ottawa pretends the lack of investment proves the project never made economic sense in the first place.

Winter’s back, and so is Quebec’s energy hypocrisy. Quebec relies on Alberta oil and gas, then receives equalization payments funded by the very industry it condemns. Meanwhile, Blanchett tells Alberta to “stop drilling” and “transition” our economy which is easy to say from a province with no production and plenty of revenue. Let’s have honest federalism: if you rely on Alberta energy, don’t vilify the people who produce it or the province that helps pay the bills.

I’m not a gun owner, but I respect the right of law-abiding Canadians to own firearms. What happened to Nathalie Provost was horrific, there's no question. But decades later, targeting legal owners instead of criminals and illegal guns isn’t the answer. Bans and buybacks miss the real problem. Personal trauma is real, but it shouldn’t drive policy that punishes people who’ve done nothing wrong.

I am done with sanctimony from celebrities. Billie Eilish denounces stolen land while owning properties on (former) Tongva territory, including a ranch now worth millions. If she is serious, deed it back and live modestly. She won’t. It is virtue, lecturing the public while profiting from the system she condemns.

Mark Carney says, “We can’t stabilize the climate unless we reach Net Zero.” But when, in all of Earth’s history, has the climate ever been stable? Climate has always changed, long before the advent of industry or carbon targets. Pretending we can control nature isn’t science, it’s ideology. Canadians have sacrificed enough under policies that promise the impossible while driving up costs and uncertainty. It’s time for real, practical solutions, not more costly illusions of control over the planet’s natural rhythms.

Polished speech, but it dodged reality. No mention of a trillion dollars in pensions tied to the U.S. Tax cuts worked out to less than a dollar a day while fees and the carbon tax climbed. Jobs are flat, productivity near the bottom of the OECD, and living costs are crushing households. Mass migration strained housing and healthcare. No pipelines, no industrial growth, stagnant wages. Fine for Davos but it's not delivering anything to Canadians.

I am not firmly for or against separation. I am still researching. One thing I am trying to understand is the argument being made here. Some of the same nations that argue they never consented to be part of Canada are now appealing to a foreign monarch thousands of kilometers away to override Albertans’ right to decide their own future. What I am genuinely curious about is the legal basis they believe gives them that authority, and why the monarchy would even entertain it. If this conversation moves forward, Albertans should ultimately be the ones deciding Alberta’s future, not Ottawa and certainly not London.

Premier Danielle Smith says it best: “Our province was relentlessly attacked. Not only for our economy, but for our personal freedoms and way of life.” That pretty much sums up the last 10 years under the federal Liberals. Now BC NDP Premier Eby piles on by calling Albertans treasonous. That is rich coming from a guy blocking nation building projects. Feels like a distraction from the Cowichan land settlement mess and how BC residents were misled on UNDRIP by him.

The idea that housing prices simply need to come down to fix affordability misses the bigger picture. If you actually want homes people can afford, you have to look at the full cost stack, not just the final price. What about lowering personal taxes so families can qualify for homes in the first place? What about rethinking Net Zero mandates that add significant upfront cost without improving affordability? What about shrinking the layers of government that slow everything down? What about cutting red tape that delays projects and drives up prices? And yes, what about every level of government taking a hard look at the fees they add to each home? You cannot regulate your way to affordability while adding cost at every step. If we are serious about solving this, we need to stop pretending price is the problem and start fixing what is driving it.

Canadians are asking a simple question: where is our money going? Billions in taxpayer dollars leave the country with little transparency. Huge consulting fees, failed programs, new crown corporations with no results, and constant government travel, all while Canadians are taxed harder than ever. Affordability is worse, quality of life isn’t improving, and accountability is still missing. It’s time to demand transparency and real accountability for every taxpayer dollar. Speak up. Share your perspective.

Canada, 1984 🇨🇦 A movie ticket was $3. Rent was under $400. Homes were $75,000. Gas was 50 cents a litre. It sounds like another planet. But what people really miss isn’t just the prices. It was the feeling. That owning a home felt possible. That one income could stretch. That the future didn’t feel like a math problem. Every generation has struggles. But when young Canadians today say it feels harder they’re not imagining it. Something shifted. And pretending it didn’t won’t fix it.

I almost walked right past it. 🌼 Just another quiet door at the Calgary airport. Until I learned what it was for. Not every hero wears a badge. Some build spaces where survivors feel safe enough to speak. To breathe. To begin again. This is the Yellow Rose Room. Soft lights. No questions. No judgment. Just safety. A final chance to say, “I’m not okay, and I need help.” Created by a former RCMP officer. Supported by the heart and vision of #NotInMyCity and the incredible folks like #PaulBrandt. 🌼 You might not notice this room. But for someone in crisis, it notices them. Let’s make sure more people know what this yellow rose really means. 💛 Learn more: Follow: @NotInMyCity_ #NotInMyCity #YellowRoseRoom #YYCAirport #fyp #HumanTraffickingAwareness #HopeInTransit #QuietHeroes #EveryLifeMatters #LearnTheSigns

Free speech isn’t being taken away. It’s being slowly engineered out of public life. • C-11 decides what content rises. • C-18 tells platforms how they can share news. • C-9 raises the legal risk of saying the wrong thing. Look at the UK. The pattern is already playing out. Platforms over-correct. Citizens stay quiet. And honest conversations disappear. This is not a glitch. It’s the goal. 📱 Call your MP. 📧 Email your Senator. ✅ Protect speech before silence becomes the safer option. Take care, Shane #BillC11 #BillC18 #BillC9 #SoftCensorship #Canada #Leadership #FreeSpeech

He’s taken some pretty dumb shots in the comments over this video. Agree with him or not, this young man stepped up and said what he’s feeling about the Canada he’s living in. He’s more aware and better informed than many people his age. Unfortunately, many older voters who supported four more years of this government were not as aware.
