If you’re someone who’s struggling with your pivot in transition, here’s a really good FEEL for you. The goal here is to feel like you’re sitting down into your lead side in transition with your pelvis specifically. Look closely at the rehearsal my student is doing.. You see him get down and onto that front leg with his lower body without his upper body stacking too far forward. We’re not only creating some separation here, but we’re shifting pressure forward while retaining tilts effectively (lead side stays down). The cue I gave him was to feel like he’s going to sit down onto a chair thats near his front leg as he starts his downswing. Really good feel if you’re someone who hangs back too long, loses posture quickly or struggles with starting the downswing with your lower body ✌️

TOUR ANALYSIS: Ryan Fox ✌️ I’ve gone over his swing before but for some of you who hasn’t seen it yet. He has one of the most unique patterns on TOUR. Not a backswing I would ever recommend for a weekend golfer, but he’s obviously able to make it work!

SHUT CLUBFACE ISSUES? Here’s part of an online lesson I gave a player recently who has a very strong grip, very shut clubface, a steep in the early stages of the downswing, and then he’s having to manage these extreme elements by compensating with his pivot. This is a pretty common pattern we come across with better players. Let’s talk through it 👊💪

If you’re someone who gets their hand path too deep in the backswing, doing rehearsals in front of a wall is a great way to neutralize that. Recreate the bad move, and then feel the difference by avoiding contact with the wall. Arm plane will get higher/less behind you 👍

This is the easiest way to show you the simplified MATCHUP between body rotation & shaft pitch. The steeper you are, the more you have to tilt in order to get the club back in position. If you try rotating instead, you’ll get way too steep on it. The shallower you are, the more you need to rotate in order to get the club back into position. If you try tilting, you’ll get stuck way underneath and will suffer from all sorts of low point and contact issues. This is a big reason why being shallower is specifically better for golfers who want to rotate more through the shot. Enjoy! 🤙
