Full Execution video ! 7 March 1947, Mokotów Prison, Warsaw. Three Nazi officials of the occupied city hang after being sentenced to death four days earlier by Poland's Supreme National Tribunal. Ludwig Fischer, SA-Gruppenführer and Governor of the Warsaw District, who created the Warsaw Ghetto by decree in October 1940 and imposed the death penalty on any Jew found outside its walls. Josef Meisinger, SS-Standartenführer, commander of Einsatzgruppe IV and then of the Security Police and SD in Warsaw. Known as the Butcher of Warsaw. Later Gestapo attaché in Tokyo, where he proposed exterminating the Jews of Shanghai. Max Daume, Oberst of the Ordnungspolizei and acting commander of the Order Police in Warsaw, who ordered the Wawer massacre of 107 Polish civilians on the night of 26 December 1939 in reprisal for the deaths of two German NCOs. The trial ran from 17 December 1946 to 24 February 1947. Among the witnesses was Jankiel Wiernik, who escaped Treblinka and survived the Warsaw Uprising.

This is David Ayzenberg, a Ukrainian Jew born in Kyiv in 1926. He was one of the very few survivors of the Babyn Yar massacre. Listen to his testimony: he states that they were led by Ukrainian nationalists, not Germans, to the execution site. OUN members directly participated in the massacre. They were the perpetrators! Together with Herbert Kappler, the German Gestapo chief in Rome, Caruso organized the massacre at the Fosse Ardeatine on 24 March 1944 in retaliation for an attack the previous day by Italian partisans on a column of German soldiers in Rome. During the massacre, 335 people, many of them members of the Italian Resistance, were shot. One of the victims, Maurizio Giglio, had been one of Caruso's own lieutenants but had been arrested seven days earlier after being exposed as a secret agent working for the Allies through the OSS. His name was Pietro Caruso. After the liberation of Rome, Caruso was tried for his numerous crimes, sentenced to death on 21 September 1944, and executed by a firing squad of the Polizia di Stato in the courtyard of Fort Bravetta in Rome. The High Court of Justice also sentenced Roberto Occhietto, Caruso's secretary and co-defendant, to 30 years' imprisonment on the same charge of collaboration. The eight member High Court, presided over by Judge Lorenzo Maroni, heard prosecutor Mario Berlinguer describe the two defendants as "wild beasts." The verdicts were delivered after two hours of deliberation. Caruso, who had been sentenced to be shot in the back, turned pale as Maroni announced the verdict.

Workers and peasants of the Soviet Union stood at the military recruitment centers, picking up a rifle and a single full magazine before heading off to defend Stalingrad. They put their affairs in order, kissed their children and spouses one last time, fully aware that there was a 99% chance they would be killed within the next 24 hours.

This story was truly heartwarming. I found it in the CBS archives. A man approaches a CBS reporter in Russia after realizing they are American and shares the story of his captivity. He had been held in a concentration camp alongside American soldiers, separated from them by a large fence. Each American soldier received five kilos of food from the Red Cross every Friday, but the Germans allowed nothing for the Red Army POWs. They were given only a small amount of soup each day and were constantly starving. Some U.S. soldiers came up with a plan with the Red Army POWs across the fence to throw food over to the Russian prisoners. The plot was eventually discovered, and the Gestapo brought all 8,000 American soldiers outside and demanded they reveal the names of the Russians involved on the other side. Not a single American opened his mouth or betrayed them.
