This weekend I went to a Ciwan Haco concert, almost 30 years after I first heard him. A few years ago, I also had the chance to hand him a letter of appreciation on behalf Kurdistan in Sweden. And now, three decades after first discovering his music, he was on stage, sounding just as powerful, just as present and just as captivating as he did back then.

Today we gathered in the Swedish Parliament alongside members of parliament, survivors, the Kurdish diaspora in Sweden and friends of Kurdistan to honor the memory of those who fell victim to the chemical attacks in Halabja With speeches, music, art and film, we came together in solidarity and in a shared commitment to keep this history from being forgotten. My heartfelt thanks to the Kurdistan Caucus, the musicians and painter, and to everyone who joined us and shared this important moment of remembrance.

Joined MP Serkan Köse on Kurdish TV to discuss a motion he and MP Ola Möller will soon present in the Swedish Parliament, calling on the government to enable direct flights between Sweden and Kurdistan. This will make travel easier for the large Kurdish community in Sweden, strengthen business ties and promote sustainable and efficient travel.
