I took the initiative to bring this prosthetic limb programme to Tororo, bringing together beneficiaries from different parts of the region. 13 of approximately 40 beneficiaries have already received their limbs, with the balance expected by next week. They have also undergone training and are now able to walk with their new limbs. Seeing the smiles and the impact this is having on their lives is incredibly rewarding. I thank Suman Foundation for partnering with me to make this possible and help restore mobility, independence and dignity to our people.

At the recently held District Roads Committee meeting, I raised concern over the inflated rates at which the Municipality has been procuring road works and related services. I pointed out that cheaper rates are available within the district, and we must ensure value for money in every procurement. Tororo Municipality has previously faced concerns around corruption, unaccounted funds and poor service delivery. We cannot allow such practices to continue. Procuring at the right and competitive prices means we can do more work with the same resources and ultimately deliver more for our people.

A glimpse from my recent address to a congregation of Indian association and industrialists in Jinja and from across Uganda we were gathered to felicitate me and Hon Sanjay Tanna. On every platform where I engage the Bayindi community, I continue to advocate for stronger relationships with our host communities, built on mutual respect, harmony, and shared prosperity. I also encourage our community to see Uganda as home to reinvest here, create opportunities, and contribute to the country’s continued growth and development. I will continue championing a Bayindi community that lives amicably with fellow Ugandans, gives back to the communities that have embraced us, and plays an active role in building a stronger Uganda.

Today, I led a delegation comprising the Mayor, the Town Clerk, and the Market Administrator to meet the Cabinet Minister for Local Government Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi. following several ground visits and concerns raised by the public, particularly regarding Tororo Central Market. During the meeting, we tabled a number of key issues affecting Tororo Municipality, including the design of Tororo Central Market, electricity, health centres, and other matters requiring the Ministry’s intervention. I also requested the Hon. Minister to visit Tororo, and I am pleased that he confirmed the visit is being scheduled. I am grateful to the Hon. Minister and the Permanent Secretary for the positive engagement and the swift directives issued during the meeting. The Ministry committed to dispatching a team of engineers to assess and resolve the market’s design concerns, and I look forward to working closely with the Ministry to ensure these commitments are implemented for the benefit of the people of Tororo Municipality.

On Saturday, I had the privilege of providing prosthetic limbs to more than 40 amputees from Tororo and neighbouring districts. Beneficiaries were assessed, measured, and had castings taken for custom prosthetic limbs, giving them the opportunity to regain mobility, independence, and dignity, courtesy of the Suman Foundation. The overwhelming turnout highlighted the immense need for such interventions, reaffirming the importance of bringing essential healthcare services closer to our people. Healthcare remains one of the key pillars of my manifesto, and this outreach formed part of several health initiatives we carried out over the weekend. My sincere appreciation goes to the Suman Foundation and everyone who contributed to making this outreach a success.

The attached video captures part of my submission during the maiden meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). I emphasized that Uganda must invest not only in what we produce, but in how we produce it. Too often, our conversations focus on the final product, yet the machines, equipment and spare parts used to manufacture those products are largely imported. This keeps production costs high and limits our industrial independence. Uganda possesses many of the raw materials required to manufacture industrial machinery. If we invest in engineering, technology and machine-building, we can lower the cost of manufacturing, strengthen our industries, create high-value jobs and reduce our dependence on imports. Beyond meeting our own needs, Uganda has the potential to become a regional hub for industrial machinery, supplying equipment to markets across East and Central Africa. True industrialisation is not just about making more products it is about building the machines that make those products. That is where innovation creates lasting economic transformation.

With the grace of the Almighty, today I officially took oath and assumed office as the Member of Parliament for Tororo Municipality. I am deeply grateful to the people of Tororo Municipality for the trust, love, and belief you have placed in me. I do not take this responsibility lightly, and I promise to serve our community with humility, dedication, and commitment. I am also proud and humbled to become the third member of my family to represent our people in the Parliament of Uganda. It is a responsibility I carry with great pride and respect. Now the real work begins. My focus remains firmly on delivering our five-point manifesto by improving household income and wealth creation, strengthening healthcare and education, improving infrastructure, and lobbying to bring services closer to our people. “Service Above Self.”
