On Saturday, I had the privilege of providing prosthetic limbs to more than 40 amputees from Tororo and neighbouring districts. Beneficiaries were assessed, measured, and had castings taken for custom prosthetic limbs, giving them the opportunity to regain mobility, independence, and dignity, courtesy of the Suman Foundation. A constituent from Venice recently brought an issue to our office that Catholic veterans are currently unable to have a crucifix on their headstone at VA cemeteries. So I led a letter to the VA urging this policy change and got 45 colleagues to sign in support! And now the House is already taking steps to direct the VA to make the change. Our veterans fought for this country. They should be laid to rest with the dignity and honor they so rightfully deserve, including the ability for Catholic veterans to have a crucifix on their headstone. Check out the letter:

It's a moment for collective resolve to ensure justice for those who lost their lives and for their grieving families by bringing the perpetrators to justice. Among the list of victims were: Shri Manjunath from Chikmagalur. Shri Bharat Bhushan from Bengaluru. I spoke to both the wives of the deceased, Pallavi and Sujata, this morning. They are at present safe, but they are worried about the future. I spoke to the KPCC, and the Cabinet has deputed Labour Minister Santosh Lad. He said that he met two members of the family and their children. He also met nearly 200 tourists from Karnataka there in various hotels and arranged flights to return to Bangalore. I have also requested J&K CM Umar Abdullah to make arrangements for those who are not in touch with their respective states. Yesterday night, I spoke to our Home Minister; he promised me that he will take care of all those people. I offer my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and their loved ones in the tragic incident. The summer season has started, and tourists have started visiting the region. Tourism is also the biggest source of income for Jammu and Kashmir. They are dependent on that income. But due to this attack, Shri Omar Abdullah has told me that this year the economy has collapsed. The Government of India is ruling there, as it's a Union Territory, still not declared as a state. So the response would be from the Government of India. In this moment, we are all one with the government. Together we have to fight. With the grace of the Almighty, today I officially took oath and assumed office as the Member of Parliament for Tororo Municipality. I am deeply grateful to the people of Tororo Municipality for the trust, love, and belief you have placed in me. I do not take this responsibility lightly, and I promise to serve our community with humility, dedication, and commitment.
