Buti Manamela is incompetent, incoherent, incorrigible, and cannot be saved. He must just go! After claiming to approve the appointment of 4 Advisors to the NSFAS Administrator, he now says he does not know how much they are being paid, and whether or not he approved the amounts. If just 2 Advisors invoiced NSFAS nearly HALF A MILLION for July alone. Without even counting the cost of the Administrator, his Advisors alone are likely to cost the entity over R 24 MILLION over the period. All of this without any approval from the Minister of Finance as is required by the Act. In the video he is just aimlessly mumbling! You can barely make out what he is saying. South Africa's students deserve better than this. Buti Manamela is not the solution and cannot be trusted by the youth of this country, students in particular!

In just a space of 2.5 years, over R 559 MILLION has been paid to 4 middleman companies at NSFAS. Imagine how much will be spent in 7 YEARS! The High Court has ruled! The most incompetent Minister has lost his case on placing NSFAS under Administration WITH COSTS AT SCALE C! Buti Manamela is a monumental failure and embarrassment. I am starting to see why he was a Deputy all these years. He is simple out of depth, and cannot handle this responsibility. Keeping him as Minister will do more damage to him than good. The guy is just not ready! We told him on 29 May 2026, that he will lose this case. He runs the department of Higher Education in the most clandestine and criminal manner. He convenes secret meeting, disregards the law and all legislation, and appoints the most dodgy characters across all entities! The Board is back! His friend, the Administrator, and ALL 4 Advisors who were going to be paid MILLIONS ILLEGALLY must pack their bags and leave Cape Town before the end of business day.

TVET Colleges should ALL be FREE. The argument is simple👇🏿 If an overwhelming majority of TVET college students are NSFAS eligible and funded, why does government need so many layers of funding distribution? If government is serious about efficiency, a decision must immediately be taken to make all TVET colleges FREE. Young people should simply walk in and register, without any financial and/or bureaucratic hurdles.

President Thabo Mbeki touches on the Nugent Commission, established by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2018 and chaired by Judge Robert Nugent, to investigate governance failures, capture and the deliberate destruction of South African Revenue Services (SARS). I am sure President Mbeki would fall off his chair if he were to find out that one of the senior SARS executives who was suspended during the post-Nugent clean up in 2019 has now been appointed by Buti Manamela as the Administrator of NSFAS to look after over R 50 Billion meant for students annually. In the same way a political decision was taken to destroy SARS, a political decision seems to have been taken to destroy NSFAS. Perhaps, we must write to SARS and the National Treasury about this dodgy appointment.

Next week when NSFAS appears before Parliament, the EFF is going to demonstrate how government has been bleeding over R 220 Million on paying for unnecessary services of four (4) middleman companies that the people of South Africa were told are no longer performing functions on behalf of NSFAS.

The Minister of Higher Education, Buti Manamela, agrees with the EFF submission that ALL TVET Colleges in South Africa should be FREE! We shall follow up on this until it is realised. Our logic is simply; if over 90% TVET College students are NSFAS funded, then why do we need middleman schemes? Money must move directly from National Treasury to Colleges, and our students must simply register without any financial blockages. On this we align with the Ballim Report!
