I’m trying to muster the confidence to start my YouTube channel. Have been for a year tbh. It will be about how to make our brains (so the world) a bit easier to live in via simple neuroscience-based behavioural changes. It will also be about lovely twigs, making things & small good side quests. Worried I need a fancy camera (finances not up to that atm) so I went up the woods & filmed things with my phone. A couple of mornings ago I woke up about 4.30am, severely anxious, very loud self-hating thoughts racing so fast I longed to turn them off-to step out of my brain entirely. Then I realised that Steve the blackbird was singing. The beautiful repeating patterns of his tweets quietened & slowed my thoughts & I was grateful for every fluting note. Small but also BIG news from the garden step bird café: in the last 24 hrs my garden robin, the one who came in the house to tell me the mealworms had run out, has found a mate! I usually silence my films but you can hear how completely delighted I am. He was showing her around! Ngl bit tearful rn plus I just ordered a LOAD of mealworms. Welcoming name suggestions for the birdy couple ❤️🪶❤️

Having a steep mental health dip, which is normal when recovering from a breakdown but scary while you’re in it. I’ve learned several neuroscience-based ways to help myself get back on the slow steady recovery curve though, so am trying not to panic. If you’re struggling rn too I’m sending the gentlest thoughts-be as kind to yourself as you can, you’re definitely not alone. Here’s my bird cherry tree last March, bustling with honey & bumble bees to counter the not-so-positive post slightly. Backing singers=great tit & a gaggle of jackdaws 🌸🌿
