Hundreds of members of an elite Somali commando unit have graduated from a training program in Türkiye under a bilateral agreement aimed at strengthening the Somali Armed Forces. During their time in training, the soldiers also developed strong skills in the Turkish language, to the level of near-native fluency. Many Somalis are interested in learning the language as well.
